BREAKING NEWS, ESPN Amsterdam 18.04.2013 14:06
Ajax star and Liverpool target has today shocked both fans and reporters alike by stating his preference for Tottenham Hotspur, after long deliberation and phone conversations with Holland team mate and friend Rafeal van der Vaart about Spurs set up and plans for a new 70,000 seater state of the art stadium and training facilities. Close proximity to Londons West End has also been a deciding factor in the theater loving Dutchmans choice.
Just kidding 'the KHL', I'm sure he is gonna be a Liverpool great.

Dutch league, one year left on his contract.. This could be an amazing deal for us. Pretty much impossible for us to get such an established and young player from any of the other top leagues in europe. Snap him up.

Ajax look set to lose star midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer but insist no deal has been struck to sell him to Liverpool.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move for the Denmark international, one of Europe's hottest young properties who has just over a year remaining on his current contract.

However, the Dutch club insist the 21-year-old's future has not yet been resolved. "We will send out a press release when there is an agreement, only a deal between Ajax and the club," Ajax press manager Eefje Schep told Danish TV2.

"So at this time there is no agreement between Ajax and Liverpool.

"Whether we negotiate or not, we do not comment on transfer rumours.

"Right now Christian Eriksen is focused on very important games we have to play at the end of the season."

Ajax have tried to persuade Eriksen, who joined the club's youth set-up as a 16-year-old, to extend his stay but they have so far failed.

"Christian has informed us that he won't be signing a new deal with us at this time," technical director Marc Overmars told Voetbal International.

"I think that he and his agent will want to see what options are available in the summer."

I hope we sign him and he's fucking shit.
I don't blame you for that mate, I will be like amazingly unbearable if he's not.

I will start a new "Eriksen vs Messi"-thread every other week if he does even slightly well and I am also going to make an exact copy of the now closed One To Watch thread and start it up whenever Ross goes to sleep.

I will then pay Rory to make a thorough preview of Eriksen before every game where his every move is monitored and discussed. I will also like to talk about his hair.

Finally I will reveal why I believe Skrtel is not as good as Agger.

I'll be very surprised if he wants to come here ahead of all the clubs that would want him that are in the champions league. I've no problem him coming as long as we're still getting some steel in midfield. If we're not then I'd be Pissed. He won't fix how lightweight we are in midfield which is one of our main weaknesses.

I'd love us to sign more featherweight skillful butterflies for our team.

We're never going to win anything ever again so we might as well be pretty.

He might actually be a sensible human being - rare I know for a footballer - that has some sense about what would be best for his career. I was listening to the Football Weekly and a dutch journalist was on talking about Eriksen. He said that one of the areas he needs to improve on is his ability to handle the pressure of big games. The journo basically said Eriksen would suffer going to one of the Manchester clubs or to Chelsea, it would be too much of a leap for him too soon. It would be a much better idea to go to a club where he could contribute to its improvement rather than being charged with keeping it at the top of the league. Who knows, Eriksen may well feel the same. I think it will be squarely between us and Tottenham for his signature; Bale leaving may well change things but Spurs also have Hotlby and Sigurdsson that play in that no. 10 role, whereas we don't really have anyone who specialises in that position. Eriksen may feel we are the best bet in terms of being given faith from a manager to have a run of games and time to adapt.

No more so over the fact we where excited for all these players in a similar breath to Eriksen, all being seen as huge talents.. and yes they all turned out to be faliures..

I will hold my reservations until he puts on a Red Shirt and performs.. I am not going to get too over excited about it..

Don't think anyone is as excited with the prospect of signing Eriksen as when we knew Salif Diao was coming. That was crazy times.

The more I look at the players listed the more odd I find your post RedNinja.

Anyways for me the excitement levels are in the heights of Torres/Suarez/Agger with this one.

Anyone willing to make a bet about him signing here?

I'm as certain as you can be (while knowing nothing) that he'll sign elsewhere

I'm a big fan of Eriksen, and I do want us to sign him, however I do think he's overrated and won't perform as well as people expect. He'll still be very good though. Bit like getting Coutinho when you were hoping for Suarez, he'll still be great, but no the superstar you were expecting (yet)

I hope we sign him and he's fucking shit.
I don't think I could take that. It would be Ryan Babel or Aquaman mark II.

Every poster that raved about him prior to signing would point blank refuse to believe he was shit and then proceed to gush over every 2 yard he makes whilst promising that he was about to fulfil his potential.

That's just horrible.
Not one of them were world renowned young superstars.
The best comparison in terms of where they stand, at their young age, is Eriksen and Torres.

I've no idea whether Eriksen could ever get to Torres peak Liverpool level, but the Athletico Torres is comparable to Eriksen.

Not fecking Joe Allen, Salif Diao, Morientes, etc. That's lazy and stupid.

So the advisers of #eriksen are at anfield tomorrow wonder if details be leaked to press for mondays papers #lfc

How highly is Eriksen rated in Europe?

I don't follow the news etc. so much these days. Is he really a sought after talent as Torres was? It doesn't feel that way to me. I have to say that I've seen very little of him so it's hard for me to judge him as a player.

If we do get him, hopefully it'll be a similar deal to when Spurs got Modric - a real coup.
