He might come in for the say surprise factor, but if he takes 4 wingers they're likely to be Milner, Lennon, SWP, and one of Johnson/Young/Cole.
SWP and Lennon have hardly played this season due to injury and not being picked. So why do they deserve to be in the team ahead of other players who havent played in the england team but have been on form and been playing week in week out?
We could argue about this all day Zlatan, but let's just wait and see the squad and see whether they're in it or not ok?

Midfielders
Joe Cole
Adam Johnson
Gerrard
Lampard
Parker
Milner
Ashley Young
Huddlestone

1. Thats 8 midfielders not 7
2. It doesnt matter about the experience, the players i choose were all good for their respective teams throughout the season, besides joe cole and gerrard + capello said he will choose based on form
3. Walcott aged 16 got thrown in at the last world cup so anything is possible
4.
CM - Gerrard (can play wing), Lampard, Huddlestone (also CB option), Parker
RW/LW - Joe Cole(can play off the strikers also), Milner, Young, Johnson

5. If barry is fit, he should drop ledley king.. then it makes for 9 midfielders

These are plenty of options as most likely 4 or 5 midfielders, there for capello has enough replacements if injury or anything occurs.

That is a good slection of midfield options, (you massive) zlatan, however it looks like Barry isn't going to make it, and he will need another DM-type player.

Now I agree that Scotty Parker can play that role, but it would seem that Capello is toying with Hargreaves, who has played no football for two years or whatever. So his previous chat about basing decisons on "form" and "fitness" would appear to be shite, hence why Lennon will go.

Pleased for Warnock, Huddlestone, Dawson and Parker, they deserve the recognition, although I doubt they will survive the cut.

Upson and Carrick don't deserve anything, they've been shit.

Zamora will feel a little bit aggrieved.

Bobby z is very unlucky he should have called up 6 strikers instead of 12 fucking midfielders

What changed his mind??

“I was supposed to meet Franco Baldini for a chat a year ago and at the last minute I pulled out,†Carragher said. “It was more out of courtesy that I was going to do it. Stevie [Gerrard, the Liverpool captain] had mentioned it to me a couple of times, so I agreed to the meeting, but at the last minute I just didn’t want to do it.

“I don’t think my situation would change if I got back in the squad. John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are first choice and they are two of the best central defenders in the world.

“Maybe I would have won ten more caps over the last couple of years because Rio and John have missed a few games, but you couldn’t ask for a better centre-half pairing than those two going into the World Cup.â€

Carragher, 31, expects England to be one of the main contenders next summer. “I think England have got a great chance,†he said. “I suppose if they went on and won it, people would say, ‘What a mistake that was.’ But who’s to say Capello would pick me in the squad? You can’t look back, you can only do what’s right for you at the time and for the future. If they do well, they do well.â€
Fancies being in a team capable of winning something before he retires.

It'll be interesting to see all these anti-England quotes from Carra being dragged up by the press. He was quite clear about how he feels about the national team in his book.

Hope so too.

28 out of 30 .. not bad 😉

Carra is making a big mistake. Surely he has not been promised first 11. 3 yrs ago he deserved to be ahead of King and rightly complained but on current form King is better.

Carra should be 4th or 5th choice so why is he back?

His book will be debated of course, I don't understand why he has done this. No penalties Jamie!!!!!

Zlatan, out of your 7 midfielders.

1 - He'll take more than that.
2 - Only 3 of them have any experience whatsoever of playing for England
3 - 2 of them have never played for England before, ever
and 4 - Lots of other stuff too.

28 out of 30.. not bad id say 🙂

Carragher regarding England return:
"The FA got in touch a few weeks ago and asked if I would have a rethink, due to injury problems," said the 32-year-old former England Under-21 captain who won his first senior cap in April 1999. " I said I would make myself available.

"The World Cup and Champions League are the highest levels of football. I'm not getting any younger, we have no Champions League football (at Liverpool) next season and I am keen to work under Fabio Capello."

Players who are going to be cut:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green.

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.

Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney.

There are two friendlies between now and the official squad date. So i think every one of those players has a very good chance of making it if they perform.

The three keepers and all the defenders bar
Warnock, Carragher, Baines, Upson and Dawson are in 100%
as are
Milner, Gerrard, Lampard, Lennon and Carrick
and
Crouch, Heskey, Rooney and Defoe

I think every other player has a chance of making it or not.

Cover for right back hes still 16th choice centre back

Interesting squad. I think the names others are mentioning to be cut are probably spot on. 6 centre-backs, so he's obviously keen to see how King/Terry/Rio go in training over the next few weeks. If any or all of them are struggling with those injuries, then he's made the right decision in adding a lot of them to the original squad.

Dawson or Upson would seem to be the most obvious choice. I suspect he'll stick with Upson given he's played there for England before, and he's the only left-footer out of the 6 of them.

If Barry's not fit, then Parker will go. Out of that list of midfielders, how many of them can lay a tackle? Not many.

And Zamora? No way. He's already got two target men in Heskey and Crouch, so there's no way Zamora was going to be included. Bent's 23 (that right?) goals got him a place, will he be used that much though? He's probably 4th choice out of that list.

The whole make-up of the squad now depends on whether his 'certainties' - Rio, Terry, King, Barry, Lennon - can make it through the next few weeks fit and firing.
