agree Ken, I think we can muddle through in the midfield and at the back, but we are complete fucking eunuchs up front when Torres is out, and that was obvious, and exactly how it was, when he signed Keane. He took a flyer , or someone did anyway, letting Keane go and not bringing anyone in last January, to extend that situation through the summer was fucking unforgivable, it is the worst mistake we have made in my lifetime supporting the club anyway, and it is biting us in the arse.

To win matches you have to score goals, and we have to win matches

PS Yes I do refer to not qualifying

Well, what do you make of games like the ones against Lyon and Birmingham?

Granted we could've and probably should've scored more given the possession we had, however you can't rest your hopes on scoring 3/4 goals every game to secure a win. We took a lead in each of those games and the only reason we lost is due to terrible terrible lapses at the back.

The primary reasons for the state we find ourselves in are 1) the inability of our central midfield to control a game and 2) costly defensive mistakes in every game. This was the case even at the start of the season with Gerrard and Torres in the side.

I'm in absolute agreement that we in dire need of another striker who can take on the responsibility of leading the line for a CL team, but I'd give anything to get back the solidity that's been the hallmark of Rafa's Liverpool over the last few years.

Sometimes it seems to be just me that knows what we have to do, or face dire consequences.
WE NEED A GOOD STRIKER

I think you and I had a discussion about exactly this on the eve of the season Vlad.

Nothing's changed from my perspective either.

It begs the question if we can afford him at Christmas why the jimminy fuck didnt we buy him in july before the season descended into being a clusterfuck due in no small part to having a shallow squad...

I will be amazed if we see either of them under the Chrstmas tree.

Exactamundo.

Because before the start of the season we didn't think we'd be struggling to make a Top 4 place?
Which says an enormous amount about the ambition of the owners does it not?

If they could not see that we needed a striker then they are fucking mre delusional than i previously imagined.

Lol true. That's not what I meant though.

I'm a bit fed up with Babel and Benayoun playing on the left really. Babel is just not very good, but Benny, we all know that he is an excellent player. He can take on players, has a good eye for a pass, is a decent crosser, scores goals and is very unpredictable.

Put him on the left, then he becomes "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". He cuts in every single time, without fail. It's not his fault that, but play him on the right or behind the striker, he's twice the player.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.. errmm..

...

We need someone good on the left so that we can play Benny elsewhere, I think.
Benayoun's ten times the player on the right than he is on the left.
Ah! Perfect!

Torres

LW Gerrard Benny

Aqua Masch

But there's no Kuyt, chances of Benitez doing such a thing? :🙂

BBC Sport - Football - Tuesday's gossip column

Rafa Benitez is ready to make a renewed effort to snap up promising Dutch winger Eljero Elia this summer. The Liverpool boss has been trailing the 23 year old Hamburg player and will attempt to capture persuade Elia’s Bundsliga employers to accept a £9m bid for his services.

The Anfield boss has reportedly been looking at alternatives to help give his side natural width to help boost the club’s midfield creativity and to help provide more firepower to its front line. Having seen Albert Riera and Ryan Babel struggle to adapt to Premier League life Benitez is looking to bring in new additions but knows that funds may well dictate just what targets he can afford to make moves for.

The Merseyside outfit has severe financial concerns and any signings made this summer will have to be funded by outgoing sales and with that in mind the Spanish boss is looking to offload under performing members of his Anfield squad. Albert Riera is a target of several Russian sides as is Yossi Benayoun but the Israeli has surely done enough to persuade Rafa of his worth.

Yes, WHAT?

Eden Hazard, Christian Eriksen and Arda Turan are the ones we should be looking at for the creative- and wide areas in out attack in my opinion.

I know nothing of this Elia-bloke however but he does remind me a bit of Babel.

And we already have one of those.

A Babel.

That's not a very intelligent thing to say, mate.
I rate you higher than this.

Re: Elia, I watched him several times and he looked like a very good player. Haven't watched him in the last couple of months though.

Eh.... what?

I've watched a few youtube clips of him today and it just seems he's very reliant on the same attributes as Babel. Pace and cutting in through the middle trying to set himself up for a shot. Reminded me of Babel when he was back in Holland that's all.

I'm baffled why you'd think lesser of me because of that but hey here we are...

Oh sorry, next time someone says "I know nothing", I'll just automatically assume they're basing any following comments on a YouTube compilations. How silly of me not to get that first time round.

I'm guessing you've seen many games of Eden Hazard and Arda Turan though?

Look I'm not going to make any judgements based on a few youtube-compilations hence my comments about me not knowing the lad. He looked a bit raw from what little I saw on youtube and he reminded me a bit of Babel back in his Ajax-days. Same movement a few of the same attributes etc.

I've seen Turan and Hazard enough to make up my mind on them - I think they're the kind of players we need. Maybe this Elia-bloke is too who knows.

Anyways why all the fuzz? I don't get it.

PS As one of Babels only fans this Season on here I'm actually still optimistic about his future. He could be a Liverpool-player for years to come.

I said I rate you higher than this, meaning I do rate you and I saw that comment as an untypical one.
Why I thought this wasn't an intelligent comment? Well I believe keniget made it pretty clear.
