Was great again tonight (MoM).

How we could have done with THIS Bellamy when he was here and even more so now.

What went wrong ?

He's ace, even if he is a nutjob and an inconsistent finisher. He's a menace, he's quick, he's skillful. Remember his performance at the Nou Camp? Brilliant.

There were reports that he had led a march to the Chief Execs office to demand the re-instatement of Hughes and that he'd put in a transfer demand.

It was suggested that he could/would only play for Hughes.

Both rubbished.

I've never been a fan of his (Nou Camp aside) but this season, he's been arguably player of the year so far and I'm really impressed.

And he's a red *sobs*

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY ?!

I thought he did fine here and he's hit even better heights since leaving. My fave Prem player, easily. Also, I like steak!

Define "fine".

I thought he just kind of came and went, barely a ripple.

I thought he was ok here as well; never got anything like the sort of service he needed. Bellamy needs quick play, teams that play with a high tempo. Remember us when he was here; we were all about possession - hold the ball in hour half for 10 minutes to establish possession and then start to look forward.

Agree with Mark - he was a very inconsistent finisher but he provided us with a menace and threatening look that we hadn't had since Owen was playing well. We've got it now (obviously) in Torres but Bellamy was dangerous even with us. I remember Jose remarking on the new danger Liverpool posed once Bellamy was signed.

Bellamy played his best ever football some 5+ years ago
whilst at Newcastle. He was an absolute sensation. He's never recaptured that form.

He's a known trouble maker, and if it came down to a choice of him or another contentious name - Anelka, I would take the latter any day of the week.

That's a very good point. City are always looking to break forward at pace and in numbers, which suits Bellamy down a tee.

Bellamy was decent in his time here... unfortunately we were shite..

For long periods he was easily the most dangerous player in our squad.

Think Stevie has been our most dangerous player for near a decade now but agree otherwise.

His scoring rate wasn't bad, he harried defenses, played unselfishly, had pace to burn and stamina, ran the channels, offered a different look to the largely immobile Crouch, and is a hell of a lot better than anything else we have as a backup striker. He certainly deserved a second season and I would have liked to see him play with Torres.

Plus I just fucking like him.

Plus he's spent a reported 650,000 GBP of his own dosh to help build a football academy in Sierra Leone for disadvantaged children. Top lad.

EAT STEAK!

Ermm..this season !

I thought he was very good for us; his only real issue was injury which wasn't a massive one at that, for us anyway.

And Tigergate, of course.

...... his form for Blackburn was far better than anything he acheived at Newcastle. Hughes had him playing amazing football, his finishing was much better than at Newcastle too.

Haha, how fickle we are. I remember when he played for us and was consistently offside and criticised for it. Now he's knocking a few goals in he is a world beater again.

For the record, I though he was an ok signing and I was ok about him leaving too. A bit too mental for me.

Bellamy was great. I wish he and Crouch were still our striker backup. Instead of Voro and Babel.

Good point, although I though N'Gog was our backup?

He had a court case hanging over him when he was here and I think that affected his performances for us in the first half of that season when he did seem very subdued from what I can remember.

I don't remember that many good performances from him in a Liverpool shirt but the ones I do remember were very very good: as mentioned his one at Camp Nou and the way he terrorized Vidic at Anfield.

We probably should have kept faith in Bellamy. I was never convinced Benitez could get the best out of him, but he's certainly better than all of our current options.

Indeed. I was talking to a couple of mates (both Arsenal season ticket holders) the other day and asked them who'd they'd like to sign in january. They both agreed upon Crouch (1st choice) and Bellamy.
