We hardly ever beat top 4 teams under Rodgers. I think his record against the top 4 teams is something like 5 in 30 attempts. Maybe our poor performances in Europe and cups is not because Rodgers is shit in Europe. Maybe he is shit against teams with decent players and tactics.
Are you sure about that? I seem to remember the humping we gave man utd and arsenal a humping and beating Citah. Chelsea is the only team that Rodgers hasn't beat.

Sterling at least tried to have a go and create something. He gets a lot of undeserved criticism these days.

I love that we give youth a chance but away to the best home team/ defence in the league in a must win game.
Not sure about that one.

We beat Man United twice last season, Arsenal once, Man City twice - once last season and once this season. Thats it. Everytime we have faced them in the cups we have lost.

This is because we often play well but don't have a cutting edge. Selling Luis Suarez was a huge mistake and not one of BR's.

I don't remembering any major cup runs with Suarez also. It has been 3 years and we have not gotten close to winning any trophies. If we face any good team we are knocked out or come up short. Happy to be proven wrong, but I think even with the right strikers his teams will more than likely not win anything. He is like David Moyes with better PR and sense of attacking football. The "horrible team" he took over won a cup and got into the final of others. Some managers know how to win, most don't. I think he belongs to the later.

Agree. He was our best player 2nd half, people don't want to like him because of the contract situation.

It's a bit of a lame call laying into his record against the big teams, or in the big games. Chelsea have lost once at home in the last few years.

Am I missing something? We have won 5 times against these teams in nearly 30 games. So we win on an average once every six games against these teams

What are we including in big games? No Everton? No Spurs? Both have struggled this season but in previous seasons while Rodgers has been here, they've been two of the teams to beat and Everton is always a "big" game. Like I said, it's a futile point to be making today, considering Chelsea have just won the league and their home record is sensational.

Why not? Are all of our big games against Chelsea at their home? I am not criticizing todays performance in isolation. We generally dont appear to do well against top teams. Maybe that is a reason why he has not won any cups as we often run into top 4 teams at some point.

I said top 4 teams in the original post. Maybe you suck at reading and comprehension. To be fair to you, Man United were not a top 4 team last season. Though I think that would take off 2 more wins.

Aside from last seasons capitulation, most of our games against Chelsea have been tight, we've drew twice with them this season and they are the best team in the league, this without a recognised striker for the most part. Maybe it is something that he needs to learn, he's young and without a shadow of a doubt, we've missed Suarez and failed to spend well. Fair enough, but we're still not that far off with the right additions. He's young and learning. It seems a bit selective to suggest he can't beat the big sides, when he took us from 7th to a whisker away from the title last season after humiliating a few good sides on the way.

Maybe he can, maybe he cant. You are on the optimistic side, I am on the pessimistic side. Based on the current evidence, I just don't see him winning any trophies. Obviously, I want to be wrong in that prediction, as long as he is our manager.

@ViktorFagerLFC: Rodgers on bringing off Gerrard: "It was just to give him the acclaim on what will probably be the last time he played at Stamford Bridge."

I'm not particularly optimistic about it either way, I've got some faith in him but appreciate he's young and he's made mistakes. We *do* play some good football and last season was about the best I remember us playing since the late 80's, that's why I'm prepared to cut him some slack. With some posters on here he's on a hiding for nothing, regardless.

I think we've lost at home by the end of September in the three seasons since he became manager
This season, we've lost to Villa, drawn with Boro, Hull, Sunderland, Leicester, Bolton, Blackburn

Maybe this is why he's subbing Gerrard so he can receive the acclaim of the Chelsea fans one last time.

He didn't rely on kids to get him Champions League, Ibe has been performing well and deserved a go, it was a brave decision to play Sinclair.

Whatever anyway, you've clearly never been happy unless you're having a pop at him, so the result is irrelevant anyway, because whatever the outcome he'll always be either in the wrong or lucky in some way. Or as in todays case, "Chelsea didn't turn up". Change the record.

Over the last four games United virtually threw away the CL spot. Except we couldnt put together more than a half decent game against a halfarsed Chelsea. So I take it he is right then? Or just unlucky with our "exceptional" performances where he " really could not have asked for more"...? It is unacceptable to not take advantage of a team slipping up like united did. I dont care about giving kids a chance (it wasnt an instant success either was it). I care about being a club that carves out nasty wins when we smell blood. There is absolutely no excuse as long as the spending have been as it has been.... It is totally unacceptable that uniteds worst run since 1998 actually build the gap on us.

What did Rodgers say in his interview? According to Twitter he looked and sounded like he knew he was on his way out.

I do have a huge amount of appreciation for fans like you who retain support and remain positive under such circumstances. I have tried to be positive, but i am not.
