Ming - 7 - thought he handled the corners/FKs very well bar the obvious.
Johnson - 6.5 - decent all over the pitch .. bar the final 5 metres
Lovren - 7 - had another good game (bar the one moment Fabregas walked through our whole defence without a single jink) his confidence is really returning and he's playing much much better for it.
Skrtel - 7.5 - very good bar his 'shot' at goal when he should have tried to cut it back to the 3 unmarked red shirts around the penalty spot !
Can - 6 - struggled in defence and yet again (twice) fails to offload when he goes on his runs, beat one man and pass it you wally !
Gerrard - 7 - played the Lucas role very well, class on the ball and we are (have) going to miss his probing passes.
Henderson - 3 (1st half) 6.5 (2nd half) - a passenger in the first half, totally anonymous. Second was better but still nowhere near his form of last season and from January on this. Worrying if this is our captain next season.
Coutinho - 7.5 - Terry described him after the match as one of the best players in the world this season, can't disagree from those matches I've seen.
Lallana - 7 - I thought his direct running caused them problems. As per Sterling needs to improve the end product though.
Sterling - 6.5 - struggled in the 1st half but improved after the break causing their defence issues by actually running at them. He needs a shit load of work done on his shooting and end product though.
Lambert - 6 - intelligent running but the pace isn't there.

Ibe - 7 - this boy should start every game. I keep saying he's going to be better than Sterling, he's not far off now at worst.
Sinclair - N/A - only touched it once I think but good to see him get a game.
Lucas - 6 - as per Gerrard but without the probing passing.

Rodgers - 7.5 - credit him for the team selection, substitutions, formation and tactics. Minus points for taking off Gerrard and Lallana.

I thought we played very well. This is after all Mourinho's Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Good result but we could have and probably deserved to win it.

Bit harsh to to criticise Rodgers for taking off Lallana when he had visibly tired and Ibe did well when he came on as you allude to yourself.

Also think you've been a bit generous to Can who really doesn't understand the positioning of a right back. Most of Chelsea's attacks came down that side as it was painfully clear they could get in behind him. I really don't know why Rodgers keeps playing him there, it's been a problem for the last few games.

Did you see the highlights just now on MOTD? Jonathan Pearce was commentating, and I thought he'd gone mad claiming Marriner initially showed a red after Fabregas' tackle on Sterling. Then came the replay - he DID! How the heck did that get missed earlier on?

Didn't see MOTD, but the whole thing was strange. My recollection is that he allowed play to continue with Chelsea attacking. The ball was eventually put out for a throw, then he booked Fabregas.

This probably won't work so have a look on the actual twitter account.

@AYPrivateEye: I thought at the time this looked a bit weird

Brendan stroking Stevie's face and he doesn't look happy about it.

Seriously, the touching of faces is probably worse for players then having to here Van Gaal try and speak English.

I want this man gone so bad. I honestly think he is a poison for the club. What man wants an older man to touch them consistently? Its like a smothering mother.

Yep, Gerrard also said in his post-match interview something about wanting to come back in a couple of years time ‘but we’ll have to see who’s in charge’ or something along those lines.

I hope we let him go tomorrow - nothing to gain or lose anymore. Let Stevie be player manager and have Carra with him for a few weeks and then hire a new manager. Klopp/Simeone/De Boer.

Even the part about how he would call Carroll up and tell him everything was great and he was going to play. But when he go to the ground he was treated awfully and kept on the perimeter. Its total shit, gutless and has no part in the repertoire of a top coach. You have to appear genuine to your players to some degree.

I coached a high school team last year. And the first thing I did, in a school with a "everyone plays mentality," is say I was going to favor the best players and hardest workers first in that order. That they would have to commit to trying their hardest to win and thats why sometimes the better players would play the whole game. (indoor game with subs, rather horrendous)

Either way I was introducing an almost foreign unfairness to them in their eyes. But I was honest and upfront and it got the best out of a good % of the players. Even some players who didn't think they would end up playing. I could find a role to utilize them successfully. We ended up competing to a higher standard than that team was used to.

Of all the dumb ideas, having Stevie and Carra as player manager and Carra with him is pretty dumb.

You do realise the mentality of a high school team is very likely to be different to professional highly paid footballers?

Of course I fucking do. But no one wants to be completely lied to about their prospects within the team. This one has done that.

Gerrard gets told he is immensely important and then doesn't play for two months. No one likes to work for a lying bell.

2 games that don't matter. Carra set up the defenseive shape, Gerrard pick the attack and do the motivational stuff. Be completely free to start worrying about the new future again.

Not a stupid idea, there is literally nothing on the line.

We have no idea what discussions happen in Melwood or away from the press so I can't see how you've determined Rodgers has lied to Gerrard other than your own speculation.

As for Carroll, we all said he shouldn't play for Liverpool. Yet, you've chose to believe an article in the media so again your evidence is all based on limited knowledge. Ok, you don't like Rodgers but, seriously, get evidence other than speculation or the media before accusing someone of lying.

They're not allowed because they don't have coaching licenses. This is not a high school.

Rodgers is only a few years older than Gerrard. The face touching thing is inappropriate and really makes you wonder if Rodgers has cracked. Or if he was ever uncracked.

Fucking LOL

You're taking this on the say so of a renowned arrogant, completely unprofessional pisshead of a sportsman.

I think it's fucked up if people are more concerned with a mistimed handshake / face touching than the atrocious refereeing from Marriner.

It's a red card for Fabregas and not only does Marriner allow play to go on, he then brandishes a red card to the wrong player before issuing a yellow to Fabregas. The fourth official is explaining the situation to Rodgers so there's obviously been contact between the officials to rectify the mistake, something which usually doesn't happen.

This is a ref with previous form in mistaken identity with the Gibbs / Oxlade Chamberlain farce just over a year ago.

He compounds that decision yesterday by not booking Fabregas later for a pull on Sterling's shorts...then books Filipe Luis for pulling Ibe's shirt.

A terrible year for refs in the Premier League, the first overseen by Howard Webb. There's a shock.

Its been a horrendous year and the refereeing standard is so awful it hurts.
The league that generates the most money in the world has probably the worst referees of all the top leagues.

The FA really need to do something with it. Thats just not with red tinted glasses on but there have been so many incidents this season.
