Actually Im glad he did it, Carroll seriously needs a kick up the hole and he seems like the moody type so Im glad it came from Capello rather than somebody inhouse having to tell him to get his fucking act together, cos thats exactly what he needs to do. Gerrard will be back in contention in a week or two after recently restarting training following a 6 month lay off but for some reason Carroll is taking the best part of year to get fit, Harry Kewell looks like Wolverine compared to him

What made me laugh was his decision over Cleverley a few weeks back. The lad plays the whole of last season on loan, plays well and doesn't get a mention with regards to England. He plays in the Charity Shield and the next day gets drafted into the England squad. On the back of a charity match. Or was it because of the shirt on his back? Errrr... It's a joke.

So when that cunt Fergie is banging on about being treated like 'shite' by the FA after providing the England team with a 'record amount of players' it all just becomes a load of laughable bollocks. The FA spoon feed the big clubs and so does the England Manager (especially the Scum). Crouch shouldn't be in the England team these days, but when he played for Liverpool he was, as soon as he left his England career was on a hiding to nothing. Same with loads of others. Phil Jones is now in the England setup FFS. Even Crappello's comments about Kelly after he'd played one game this season were pretty laughable

His game looks a bit lost to me. Maybe its a confidence thing? He looks a bit fed up with refs pulling him up all the time and not getting many chances.

Some of it his own fault. He isn't working hard enough, he isn't gambling on things in and around the box but in fairness the supply hasn't been to his strengths.

It'll probably take a late winner off the bench against someone decent to give him a boost and perk him up a bit. A bullet header in the final 10 mins vs Stoke would do nicely please Andy.
I agree Mark and the press feed it. I heard Holt and Harmon yesterday both saying that Smalling should be the right back going forward and hes better than Johnson. On the back of playing 3 games at RB for United. He was also shite the other night. Its jokes. Pretty sad too that he told Scott Parker to leave West Ham or be dropped. Dont really understand why it matters where you play if youre the best player.
It would also make more sense to pick less players from top 4 if possible as they will have played 15 less games at the end of the season and be fresher.
Id also like to know why (above aside) Jay spearing hasnt had a look in after the 6 months he had.

Caroll does need to buck up his ideas, he seems like a good lad and gets on with everyoen but like most english lads nowdays it seems he wants to drink a bit too but he's a footballer and has responsibilites, if he was fit and scoring then it wouldn't be an issue. He's in the public limelight, work a lot harder and go out less, footballer have such a short amount of time, why not bloody play football and scarifice the friday nights?
Wasn't Gerrard told to do the same by GH when he was 20 or something?
Not sure about the Capello flak, he may have done OK job but who are the real alternatives??, I see no English manager fit to take over the role. It's all very well calling for his head, but who is available to do the job?

The England setup (along with Capello) is a joke, I agree, but I don't see why Capellos comments are getting such a strong reaction.

All he said was that Carroll needs to work on his fitness and sort himself out a bit if he wants to get games, which is fair enough. That's pretty much exactly what most Liverpool fans have been saying about the guy recently.

Sven and Capello both have good records in qualifiers, but I've got no interest in them because I know when it gets to the tournament we'll be shite. He's not a motivator, the whole setup is as big a joke as it's always been and players won't be picked on merit.

Years ago, the Spanish FA got together with the league teams and said that they wanted to create a blueprint throughout the league which would then translate to the National team. It takes time to build, Klinsmann and co started something similar with Germany about 5 years ago and they're now starting to see the benefit. People say we lack the technique of the big National teams, but we've got a squad that's littered with top quality players who've repeatedly underachieved at International level. The team lacks cohesion, direction and a structure. You can see with Liverpool (now) the benefit of a good setup and structure, just basic stuff that you stick to. Too many people in football over-complicate things and within our own Football Association setup, too much of it is about money and the face of it. Fuck thet fact that once we get to the Finals we're the in-joke.

the problem is they pick a system to suit the players rather than picking players that suit a system.
for example if I played a 4-4-2 and with a holding midfielder and an attacking midfielder, if I picked gerrard (for example) as the attacking player then I wouldn't pick lampard regardless of how shit hot he is for his club, if I felt lampared deserved to be included I'd drop gerrard even if the holding midfielder was having a average season.

also I would have simple basic tactics, I would at most have the players for a week so bogging them down with complicated intructions is pointless.

Maybe he needs to be embarrassed, it's quite clear there's something wrong that can be fixed. It's not as if he's some shy kid that won't be able to take the criticism, he's a big man, and he needs to sort out his off the field problems, hopefully this will help.

I remember when gh ripped into gerrard after we got booted out of the CL (when gerrard was having an appalling run of form). after that gerrard sorted his shit out and went from strength to strength. so I guess this approach can sometimes work but in all honesty the england manager has his choice of any english forwards in the country so if you don't fancy the player (not in a lusty way obviously) then don't pick him and let the his (the player) club sort out his problems.

I find Capellos comments bang out of order tbh. Shocking man management.
Don't be surprised, the guy's a fucking joke.
only just come to that conclusion, mark? I wanted him sacked for ages. sack him now and let the new manager prepare for the euros. I fucking hate crapello.

Even Crappello's comments about Kelly after he'd played one game this season were pretty laughable
the guy is a joke, I'm not that bothered about what he says off the pitch, although the carroll comments are completely uncalled for whether he was asked a direct question or not, I'm not bothered by his team selections, no, what bothers me about crappello is his tactics are fucking SHITE, when everything is going fine then he is okay but when the shit hits the fan he has no clue how to deal with the situation. please tell me what nation would have kept a manager after he delivered the insipid performances england displayed at the world cup? fucking useless cunt.

Are you saying Neil despite Capello's faults, you can get more out of this England team tactically then a guy has created one of best football teams I have seen( AC Milan 1993-1994) ?😉

The England setup (along with Capello) is a joke, I agree, but I don't see why Capellos comments are getting such a strong reaction.

All he said was that Carroll needs to work on his fitness and sort himself out a bit if he wants to get games, which is fair enough. That's pretty much exactly what most Liverpool fans have been saying about the guy recently.
it's about man management, if you have a problem then tell that player personally and don't air your grievances publically.
Unless he already has done that, and it hasn't worked and felt it necessary to make it public.
then you don't pick him.
crapello - 'I know, I'll pick carroll and then humiliate him, that will show him'

But he clearly does fancy him, picked him in the squad and wants to give him advice how to do better. You know what, if Caroll can't take that on and not get better then we can forget about him getting any better. I like Carol and hopefully he can do better and will do better, but he's 22 and anytime a lad needs advice, it's now...

Message from Capello: I think you're a good player, good enough to start for England, sort your shit out and you'll be a great player.

Message from Spider-Neil: You're not good enough to play for England, I know you're the most expensive English player ever and are playing for a top club, but I'm going to play Peter Crouch of Stoke instead.

Neils chalkboard analysis makes me want to eat poison.

Gary Neville. Yes that Gary Neville recently said that the problems at national level are the players and the press. Ego, Fear, Division etc amongst the players and the savaging they recieve in the press if they dont perform puts too much pressure on them meaning they are scared to try anything and play within themselves.
He basically said there is nothing else the managers can do and the players need to be accountable.
Thats Gary Neville who has been in and around the england camp for two decades.
Telling the (champions league and multiple championship winning in multiple countries) manager to play different tactics isnt going to help.

My feelings are that I want to see much more evidence that there is a problem with Andy Carroll. In my humble opinion all this huffing and puffing is premature. It's perfectly conceivable that the lad will score a hat-trick against Stoke. Would people still continue to go on about him even if he does? :🙂

Grievances?

Humiliation of Carroll?

Have I missed something that Capello has said or are we still talking about him getting match fit / sharp?

That may be so but that winner of a manager could start by picking players on merit rather than reputation (and / or pressure from other parties).

I have a lot of respect for Capello but he went back on everything he said he wouldn't do when he first came into the job and his performance at the World Cup was fucking diabolical.

Well Capello did say that Carroll drinks too much, which seemed pretty controversial in the circumstances of a press conference!

that's bullshit!
pairing gerrard and lampard together has nothing to do with the media.
dropping deeper and deeper when we don't have the ball has nothing to do with the media.
launching the ball from the back when under the cosh has nothing to do with the media.
besides, if you can't handle media pressure then get the fuck out and defer to someone that can.

This is obvious to anyone watching England from the outside. I think in most other countries it is quite different, with people and the press supporting their team more.
