Neils chalkboard analysis makes me want to eat poison.

Gary Neville. Yes that Gary Neville recently said that the problems at national level are the players and the press. Ego, Fear, Division etc amongst the players and the savaging they recieve in the press if they dont perform puts too much pressure on them meaning they are scared to try anything and play within themselves.
He basically said there is nothing else the managers can do and the players need to be accountable.
Thats Gary Neville who has been in and around the england camp for two decades.
Telling the (champions league and multiple championship winning in multiple countries) manager to play different tactics isnt going to help.
that's bullshit!
pairing gerrard and lampard together has nothing to do with the media.
dropping deeper and deeper when we don't have the ball has nothing to do with the media.
launching the ball from the back when under the cosh has nothing to do with the media.
besides, if you can't handle media pressure then get the fuck out and defer to someone that can.
Hmmm. So on the one hand we have the testimony of a senior England international who was part of the failed 'golden generation' and who saw first hand the tournaments in Japan, France, England, Portugal etc.
Whereas.....well on the other hand we have a chalkboard mentalist off of the internets.
Who to trust.......

I don't think it's a coincidence that every manager that gets the England job is thought to be inept. At some stage you have to realise that it's not just the managers fault.
Exactly. And we are talking top top managers a lot of the time.
How many trophies have Sven, Fabio and Robson won between them?
I know what Neils saying and im just fucking with him, but the fact is the players go out there defeated, under any coach! They are scared to play, scared to make mistakes.
Yes often we have the wrong manager (keegan, mclaren etc) but Fabio is a legendary Manager. And its strange seeing these sacharine piss weak performances from England players who during the week are fucking blistering for their clubs.
The answer as far as im concerned is more youth. Remove the egos, remove those who perform below their peak and replace with young hungry FEARLESS talent.
The ONLY player i can think of for England in the past 15 years who always played to his ability was Beckham. Ashley Cole isnt far off but the rest of them are hit and miss.

yeah yeah it's a chalkboard but my observations of england are as follows

a) the players are chosen mainly from the top teams (liverpool, manu, chelsea, arsenal, etc)
this is understandable as these teams are going to have the best players but because these are the teams that are challenging there is resistance and often players are held back due to injuries that magically clear up when the domestic campaign is back. that can't help preperations. does the spainish national team experience resistence from barca and real? I doubt it.

b) the media don't support the english team on the contray it's like they do everything in their power to destablise the mood and atmosphere of the training camp.

c) the team is filled top to bottom with techincal players who can pass it around well enough but under the cosh they panic and hit the ball long. it's desparate at best and at worse it's pathetic.

d) england has a sea of attacking central midfielders but where are the quality holding midfielders?
manu - anderson
liverpool - lucas
chelsea - obi
city - de jong
the middle of the park is argubly THE most important area of the pitch and we are content to play individuals who can 'do a job'.
it's a major reason why without fail we are dominated in the middle of the park when ever we face quality opposition.

there's more but that is off the top of my head, like keni said, it's the same with every new manager, nothing ever changes.

Yeah. The problems are legion buddy.
Press, Manager, Players, Tactics, Fans, no winter break, not enough English talent etc etc.
When Shearer was in his pomp we had the choice of him, Ferdinand, Cole, Sheringham, Fowler and Wright all of whom were equally capable. Now we have Rooney who is hit and miss for England and....*shrugs* Carroll? Defoe? Bent? its crap.
Same right through the team. Fuck sake Bruce, Winterburn, Pallister, Flowers couldnt get a game for England. Now you can pick our best 11 easily.
Thats the biggest problem of all as far as im concerned. But it is just one of the problems.

Its OK Brave John Terry has life wisdom advice for our Andy:
Liverpool FC Andy Carroll can learn from his mistakes after England manager Fabio Capello questioned his lifestyle choices, says John Terry.

Capello said on Monday that Carroll "needs to drink less than others" if he is to further his career.

But England captain Terry does not feel that will be a problem and has cited his own career as a template for Carroll to follow.

"He`s a young player who's at a very good club with a really good future," the Chelsea man said.

"He has still got to enjoy his time away from football. I`m sure he will.

"He`s a really good pro on the pitch and good around the camp. I`ve made my mistakes, maybe drunk a little bit too much when I was younger and gone out a little bit too much.

"But, having gone through that, at 26 or 27 you maybe look back and are glad you did it then because you don't want to do it now."

Get pissed early on so you can save your strength to shag team mates birds when your a bit older and reaching a crisis!

Stan Collymore:

I’VE loved watching Kenny Dalglish swap chirpy for chippy these past few days.

Since he returned to Liverpool he has been far too jovial, so it was fantastic to see him bite back when he was asked about Andy Carroll’s lifestyle on Thursday.

While I still think Fabio Capello should have been sacked after the World Cup, I want to stick up for him over his questioning of Carroll’s lifestyle.

Capello voiced concerns over the player’s drinking and general fitness levels which drew a furious response from Dalglish, who leapt to Carroll’s defence.

While it was fine for Capello to ask the question, I am also convinced that Carroll is up to scratch ... because Dalglish wouldn’t let him get away with anything less.

Liverpool is a very small city – everybody knows everybody else’s business and the Mersey grapevine is legendary.

Any sniff of bad behaviour would get back to Kenny and, quite simply, there is no way he would take any crap from his players.

And that is why he is the perfect manager for Carroll.

When I think back to my own time there, I was a British record signing and the expectation on my shoulders was massive.

Carroll is a very lucky boy because Dalglish will keep him on the straight and narrow.

I had the rather softer personality of Roy Evans to keep me on track and, in the end, I lost my way.

With the greatest of respect to Roy – and don’t get me wrong, you have to take responsibility for all your actions – he was a gentle character who had come through the Boot Room, whereas Kenny will walk into the dressing room and immediately command respect.

And if you start taking the mickey with your lifestyle choices under a Dalglish regime, then you know you’re not going to be at the club for long.

Liverpool is a club on the up and Carroll will want to be a part of that, so the best thing he can do this season is just watch and learn.

It might be a case of 20 minutes here and 30 there, but if both sides watch and learn, both will benefit.

Then, next season, it will be a case of ‘Right, there’s more of an expectation now that we know what we want to get out of you, and we know what we have identified’.

If Liverpool make the most of the asset they have – and it’s a massive one – then in the next six years Carroll can strike fear into most defences and get them 20 goals a season.

And in three years’ time we will no doubt all be saying how well Andy Carroll is playing in the Champions League.

But that can only happen one step at a time.

Carroll was a one-man wrecking ball for Newcastle against Aston Villa last season.

He was fit and because he was getting a lot of the ball, his confidence grew. His aerial threat was outstanding.

At the moment Liverpool are only utilising 25 per cent of his game
, but what Carroll has to do now is put faith in his relationship with Dalglish.

Do that and they will soon be reaping the rewards of the other 75 per cent as well.

You know what ? - I keeping thinking that 35M pound striker should be proven talent in any team in the world who needs no time settling in and will guarantee you at least 20 goals a season and is able to play well against any opposition from the best teams to the worse teams. Thats what a 35M striker should be doing when you buy him, and he should not be having threads on here discussing how he is going to become a legend or will he get there or not. Any player you pay 35M for has got to be proven talen that puts the shits up any opposition and right now I don't see that from Carroll, and if I am honest I really cannot understand why we went mad to sign him. Should have held our nerve.

Ok, there's an extremely long way to go yet, but just keep on scoring those vital goals big man and maybe one day, who knows.

You could start with a winner in the Final against the Chavs please.

*waves medium-sized Carroll flag as the tiny one has now been binned*

Well I came out of this unscathed.
Still think he has a long way to go.
First of all he has to catch up with Suarez and that's a big task.

suarez is starting to anticipate his knock downs which is pleasing and we almost reaped with dividens when maxi hit the post.
