Carroll will be a Liverpool-legend

He's 6 foot 4 and 11 stone so he's not exactly built like drogba.

He will win you just as many balls as him though as he's the best headerer of the ball in the league by many accounts.

Bit undecided on Carroll, I've never really been a fan of target men, because I appreciate skill and guile more in an attacker, where as Andy is not blessed with those talents I appeciate he's big and powerful in the air.

He's essentially Duncan ferguson isn't he.

If we had paid 15 million for him we would all be very happy with him as an option so I think we should try and forget about the extra 20 and let him prove his worth to the team as an individual player.

His 'awesome physique'?
Is it the wording or do you simply disagree that he's got great physical attributes to show?

I'm quizzed.
its disbelief.

Hes a skinny unathletic bloke
Are we talking about the same guy here?

Tall, big lad, stature like an American fridge?

Not saying he can't bulk up even further but he's already very strong and quite mobile as well.

Just don't see any skinny bloke when I look at Carroll.

It's all about perspective mate.

Look in the mirror, now look at Ross, back to the mirror, now back to Ross
if there are 6CM awards for the best post, that HAS to be a contender

No. Not joking.

I really believe in the big guy. Wouldn't swap him for any other targetman at this point in time.
Not even Bendtner? High praise indeed!

I'd just like to point out there was a silent "Sadly, you're not Ross, but you could . . ." in that line.

Love yooooooooooooooooooooooou big guy

Fear Of A Fat-Fingered Planet.

Watching his play for Newcastle, he seems to drop back and link up a lot more there than he does here. That might be due to us lumping it a bit too much. I definitely think it should be drilling into the team to pass it forward and not lump it so. The big problem i'm having with Carroll this season is he looks a bit like a fumbling fool when he plays. I'm sure that'll sort out with a few games and definitely with a goal or two. Unfortunately, like most English players, he seems to be a confidence player. He needs to get that confidence in himself. I don't think he believes he's a £35million man, he needs to have a good season with us to instill this belief in him, once he does he'll become a monster. Lets hope he gets a bit of confidence soon and builds on from there.

And KHL, like fuck you'd choose Suarez and Carroll over Aguero and Tevez, no one in there right mind would. I know this is something very controversial for me to say but Suarez < Tevez, Carroll < Aguero until proven otherwise, which in the former I believe will happen this season.

Bit off the subject, though this was on telly last night - had to laugh

We need to see more people getting to the line and cutting back, now suarez is fit that will happen more often, and when downing and Enrigue gel, and Charles starts finding the length it will all fall into place.

I would.

Suarez is a wonderful player in their mould and has already shown how big an asset he is to the club as well as the Premier League. Tevez is a marvellous player but not without his flaws as well (where the biggest is his seeming lack of will to actually play in England). A

Aguero, well, let's wait and see shall we before we're all creaming ourselves here. He's a great prospect but not only is he very similar to Tevez and to some extent Suarez but he's got it all to prove still. He's not quite made the best of his talent yet and the best might still come but the same could be said with Carroll whom I believe will get more goals in the long run.

We'll see. At this moment, for several good reasons and a few hunches, I wouldn't swap the Suarez and Carroll combo with the Tevez and Aguero one. There's no striking partnership in the Premier League at this moment I'd rather have actually. Hope they live up to my high hopes and under Kenny's guidance I do believe they will.

"You're", it's "you're", as in "YOU ARE".

I refuse to believe he's 11 stone. I'm 11 stone at 5'10 and quite slim.

The price tag is always going to kill the Carroll effect, and so it should in my opinion; it was an insane amount to pay.

I reckon he's a decent Prem player to lead the line and score 15 goals a season (in a good team like us), maybe a couple more. The problem is Kevin Davies could do that. If we played N'Gog up front on his own all season, I reckon he'd score 10 goals and have a hand in a few more. So, why pay 35M for Carroll?

Rooney is a 30M striker, scores 30+ goals one season, gets lauded, flops the next, gets lambasted, as it should be. But he will deliver. He's class.

I mentioned 15 goals a season coz I've seen a few posts on here lately where some loonies think that may be a decent return. It would be a decent return for Carroll, it is not a decent return for a 35M striker: even if he cuts the grass and paints the stands.

Plus, after 2 games this season, it's already obvious to see (1) he's physically limited & (2) we're much better without him. The movement with Meireles and Suarez on the pitch proved that. You don't need John Carew up front as a 1 man.

15 goals would be fine if he was contributing massively to the team a la Drogba.

For me the worry isn't how many goals he'll score.

My biggest fear is that he looks devoid of any technique and has the mobility of the Death Star.
but he can destroy planets

He has still only played a couple of games for us when fit... Give the guy a break ffs.... And if the ref hadn't had his head stuck up his arse last week he'd already have a goal for us this season. No clearly he isn't a 35m pound player but then fuck it who cares...

I'm happy to wait and see what he brings to the team, against Arsenal we were very compact, probably wary of Arsenals pace Nd counter attacking ability, and simply did not support him enough. He was heading balls down for no-one to feed on. His looks like he could be a handful when we learn how to utilize him properly, that will take more than a couple of games to happen...

I know he's not had the best of starts at Liverpool but I'm absolutely certain he's going to be a real player for us. Legend-potential even.

Despite popular belief I thought he was very good in the first game despite not beeing at his sharpest. Lot of interaction, lot of good first touches and immense workmanship.

He's got such a strong shot and when he's at this best I can't see any defender out there cope with him because of his good use of his awesome physique. With the right personel around him, not least Suarez, I believe we've got a potential world class striker and strike-partnership on our hands.

I've been very pleased with his start despite him yet to hit the form he showed at Newcastle.

I for one believe he could indeed turn out to be worth every penny.

*Perhaps this has been done elsewhere I just thought I'd give my take on the big lad.

KHL, I've been sceptical about some of your opinions in the past and your tendency to favou Danes, but I am FULLY BEHIND YOU on this one. I love Andy Carroll, think he'll be top class for us. The Big Fella just needs a goal to get his season going. I firmly believe he'll make the difference between draws with the likes of United and Chelsea and wins against them.

Cheers mate and no worries, I talk as much rubbish as the next man.

Hope we're going to be proved right on this one mind.

Ha!

Hopefully his well-taken goal last night will set him on fire against Bolton.

They sure must be trembling with the forecast of having to defend against not only Suarez but big Andy as well.

I love our new attack.

It seems the Forum is never happy unless it has identified somebody associated with the club to demonise. The Andy Carroll that I see is a different player from the one who many other seem to see. He seems perfectly fit and does some excellent running off the ball. Has nobody noticed how he draws defenders and creates space with his decoy runs?

sorry - I know this is going to sound harsh - but I just don't think he quite fits into our team, and the way we are progressing in terms of our play - game by game I am thinking this is not going to work out for him here.

Wats Da Matter with yous?

Are you high on alcohol? You are not a Liverpool fan unless you are paranoid!

So far...i have been happy with every single player we have signed and sold this transfer window. I can't say that about any of the transfer windows in the last few years. The sum of parts of players we have brought in is greater than the total outlay of money for them!

The sheer volume of work Kenny, Comolli and team have put together is nothing short of amazing.

If it isn't too greedy i just want a couple more deadwoods to be shipped out before the end of the window.

I was skeptical about the need for a football director, but if they help (of course as part of a team) to achieve all this in one window, it is absolutely justified!

I think he's doing lot of good, it's just on the ball he seems cumbersome and uninspiring. It's because his confidence I reckon, he's still worth his place in the team, however when he gets his confidence back and his body language looks more positive, everyone else will notice.

As people have no doubt commented, he's got a foot like a traction engine.

Looked like the amount of power he generated from a fairly static position was pretty impressive, dunno if it was just due to dodgy lower-league keeping
