Reports in Turkey suggest that the bitter rivals have both sent their scouts to watch Turan in action, but the winger has a £33million (€40million) release clause in a contract he recently signed with Atletico.
United manager David Moyes is still looking to put his stamp on the Premier League champions after a sub-standard opening to the season, and may look to bring in Turan - who has Champions League experience with both Madrid and Galatasaray - to strengthen his side.
But there will most likely be a bid to bring the Turkey international to Anfield, as Reds boss Brendan Rodgers continues to build a squad fit for competing in Europe's top competition by the end of the season.

A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player...
Ahmet Bulut, Turan's agent
Turan's agent Ahmet Bulut revealed last season that the attacker aims to play hisfootball in England and suggested there was interest from United and Liverpool.
"A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned," said Bulut.
"He wants to work in England."
Turan, who has the ability to play on the flanks and behind the striker, has been an integral part of Diego Simeone's side this season, contributing three goals and five assists as Atletico sit second in the table, three points clear of neighbours Real Madrid.

Very good player but he's not worth 33M to anyone bar the Citys and Monacos of this world.

I see the authors name but who does he work for?

I've forgotten that its another transfer window coming so all the Twitter wannabes will be back out in force again!

AM are going great guns .... they are not going to upset their title shot by letting key players go at this stage of the season.

We would only sign him if Dr Emmet Brown came along with his fine Norn Iron made car, took BR somewhere that he could asses the impact of the player, so he could return and sign the fella. That's the only way I could see it happening.

Zero chance either us or Utd will pay that, we dont have that sort of cash to waste on a winger and they already have about 4 wingers in their squad. Not happening unless the price is dropped by about 15 million, and even then I think we will be looking at a centre mid over a wide player
