Rafa got us closer than anyone will do for a while. sacking him off and everything that has followed has been a mistake.

... everything has been a mistake ... Yes, everything. We're getting relegated.

**runs for the hills**

Not everything:

The great thing is that we are all being patient and waiting until we've played 15 or more games with this squad and style. Just like we all said we would.

The year is 2033 and Brendan Rodgers retires after winning 15 titles in an incredible 18 year span. His replacement, Saudi born Peter Abu Simcha struggles in the first 10 games, posting a 5-5-0 record. Fans berate the unfortunate Abu Simcha and many demand the return of Rafa. "Rafa would have won 17 titles in 18 years, and wouldn't not have retired at such a young age and left us with an incompetent twit. RAFALUTION OR RELEGATION."

It's not impatient to talk about how shit we are. I'm not upset at the manager or what he's trying to do, I feel sorry for him. But the club is a shambles and the team is shite.

There have been 2 so far in the PL.

None from open play though. It's obvious we're going to score SOME goals but we look desperately short of the right players to create and score goals. Hopefully that explains it in words that you can take literally.

That's great. Thank you very much Sunny.

That's the problem with Rodgers' tactics. He relies on his players to conjure up a goal by themselves. His actual system of play, formation, tactics, none of it does anything more than pass the time during the game. At least with counter attacking, or crossing, or long balls, there's a way to score a goal at the end of it. Rodgers seems to have made the fatal mistake of trusting our players with that responsibility. I wouldn't even make that kind of schoolboy error on the playstation. But then I'm a genius.

Players who Rodgers thinks can conjure up goals for him: Suarez, Gerrard, Borini, Sterling, Downing, and Allen.
Players who can actually conjure up goals in reality: Gerrard, Carroll and Suso.

And there's the problem.

Why does everyone feel sad for Rodgers, exactly? Yea, he seems to have been fucked on the Carroll deal, whether it's via incompetence, or the latest conspiracy theory. But he didn't want Carroll, and he wanted Dempsey, and if you think this game would have gone differently because of Dempsey, then I'll just have to disagree.

He did very well this window on the face of it, but strikers were a glaring deficiency, and it was his choice to buy Borini, who has a long way to go to impress, and his choice to replace Carroll, and do so right as he was turning into a pumpkin.

At any rate, I like watching us lose a lot more than I liked watching us lose last season. So that's improvement isn't it?

Fark - never looked at it like that - but your right I do enjoy losing like this .. yes its much better.

I think this thread is a good one from Keniget and expresses nearly everything I feel right now in terms of being frustrated at everything I see. There is no one answer to any of those other than Patience - we just have to gritt our teeth and hope things will work out especially that issue raised by dantes commenting on Roger's system not actually designed/or rather offers a way of scoring other than relying on the players. I think (wihout turning this into a Rafa thread) Rafa in a recent interview said that Barcalona are not just successful because of the way they play but also because the system they play have Iniesta, and Xavi who are the foremost in actually applying the string pulling in such a system which is about passing to open up spaces and players to move into. One thing that people forget is that it may work very well in Spain but if faced with a solid defence then finding that space and scoring from the tightest of angles requires the best strikers in the world - and we don't have them.

Keni - the only thing we can do is wait until January and Hope !!!! - before then we can still hope that the guy Ossama comes good and also that little 18 year old. Can I just add that I still have hopes that we may get 4th spot.

the position we find ourselves in is obviously the culmination of years of mis-management on and off the field by a number of different people, from owners to managers to players to fucking tea ladies . It's a bit of kick in the nads to think that despite trying to change these people a number of times none have been able to do a decent job of it and have infact just added to the shit heap .

Anyway , without having some mad investor to throw money at all our problems, the questions for me now are -

How long will it take to rectify all these mistakes and get us back to where we belong ?
Do we have the right people in charge now to bring us there or are we just going to slip further behind ?
Again , without huge levels of money will we even really be able get out of this hole ? because it seems to me the days of managers being able to come in and improve a team without having a blank cheque are gone , at least at the top level of the premier league anyway .

Irrelevant when it happened - at least you acknowledge Rafa kinda lost the plot.

Wherever there is anybody saying anything vaguely pro-Rafa,even as in this case a nostalgic reference to how good we were not so long ago, there will be Le Tallec Wiz slagging and goading and generally finding bones to pick.Wherever anyone says anything anti-Rafa there will be Le Tallec Wiz wholeheartedly agreeing. This about the man who won us our fifth European Cup-the one we got to keep.I could see that not everything was right with Rafa in the end, and the whys and wherefores for that are many, but for you to be so obsessed with calling out and shiting the same bile every time his name is mentioned shows it is you who somehwere or other lost the plot.
Your prejudice is transparent but not rational.

Ahhh you're back. Welcome!

You're talking absolute shit ... There was another thread where I talked about the last few years and talked about Rafa very positively. We were good in Rafa's first few years - NO ONE should (or really can) deny that. He built a lovely squad, won Europe, won the FA Cup and had us playing lovely footy at times.

Can you please find me ONE point where I 'wholeheartedly agree' with anyone saying something 'anti-Rafa' (considering I'm not)?

If you can, I'll happily apologize. If not, I'll just remember that last time we had this debate, you completely ignored every point I made, and regurgitated the same usual bullshit in an attempt to paint me like some irrational Rafa hater - which I'm not, and never was either.

Good manager (not great due to the managers he competes with out our club: Shanks, Bob etc) who gave us some great moments, but unfortunately lost the plot in the last two years (for many reasons - some valid, some not) and set us back. That is a rational statement. I just hate that people (maybe you're one of them) keep on bringing back the idea of "Rafa should have never left and we'd be ok," because we wouldn't have been (you say it yourself, "not everything was right with Rafa.") Wow, maybe we're even on the same page?!?!

You're making a fool of yourself (and can you at least write it LTW, or LeTallecWiz? There's no spaces) - so it's best you find another poster who actually does hate Rafa (there are a few suddenly) and spend your time bashing them (and I won't object).

Well said

You came from RAWK right? Nice one.
