[article=http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/second-cruciate-knee-injury-cruel-6537106]Samed Yesil's season is over after the Liverpool FC striker ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in a year.
The 19-year-old German youth international, who cost the Reds £1million from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2012, is awaiting surgery after suffering the devastating setback in training.
“Unfortunately Samed has suffered a reoccurrence of his knee injury,” confirmed Reds under-21s coach Alex Inglethorpe.
“It’s a horrible situation for him. He had only just recovered from the previous injury.
“We will give him all the support he needs. He’s a great character and I am sure he will come back strongly from this.”
Yesil only returned to action in October following eight months out after damaging his cruciate ligament on international duty with Germany.
He has made two first team appearances for the Reds – featuring in last season’s League Cup win over West Brom and the defeat to Swansea.[/article]
