Hahahaha!

Carroll is never worth £18 or £20m cos the kind of team that suits his play can't afford that kind of money nor his current wages. I'm talking, Stoke, Bolton, etc. You only have to look where the Barcodes were when they sold him to us and where they are now for the truth. If they offered us any more than £10m I'd be amazed.

I feel sorry for Carroll cos he was perfectly happy at the Toon until we came knocking. He never really had his heart in the move but Ashley wanted to cash in.

Torres will never be the player he was but he could definitely do a job for us (better than Carroll) , so I say "yes".

I have no idea what anyone has seen in Torres in the past year to suggest that he's worth 20m or close to that.

Is it that people think that he will somehow regain his form of a few years ago? I think anyone who thinks that is a little deluded. From now on he'll be an average player and get an average number of goals (if he stays fit). Anyone paying 20m on him now is wasting their money.

It shouldnt be a case of Carroll or Torres.

Do we want Torres at all? No.

Do we need better than Carroll? Yes. Or at least Carroll needs to start living up to some of his potential.

Add me to the yes list..

for 20 million its a gamble.. if we get champions league football because of it, it will have pretty much been a worthwhile gamble..

In still think Carroll will come good.. send him out on loan get his confidence back up and fit for next season. Look what happened to Sturridge cannot do any harm... If anyone knows how to get the best out of Torres we do!!!

Forward line with Bellamy & Downing on the wings with Suarez and Torres up front.. On form that will scare the Shiite out of any defence in the premiership...

As I've said before, I think he's worth about 10m now. I don't really want him at all, I'd prefer someone young with potential to get better.

Ok so it is a no then. Sorted.

He looks like hes fed up, feeling sorry for himself and no longer enjoying playing football. Let him go back to Spain whilst we find hungry, talented players who want to be here.

i still don't think he's adapted to being away from home. Thing is, you can tell there's effort and he's frustrated. He started to score then we decided to drop him. Thats got to knock his confidence. Last game he played he reminded me of kuyt. Ran about a lot but ultimately was a bit shit

as ever, i'm amazed how fickle and short-sighted most football fans are. anyone doubting that Torres can still be a top player should watch his performance at Old Trafford a couple of months ago, and others around the same time. he was clearly getting some serious form back: not to 07/08 levels - i think everyone would accept that player's gone forever - but certainly to 09/10 levels, when he never seemed quite so spectacular but still scored 18 in 22 for us. 18 in 22. that's fucking mental. obviously, if it's true, as i've seen rumoured, that he has serious long-term physical problems, then that's another story, but that talent itself hasn't just completely disappeared in 10 months!

it reminds me of everyone's attitude to Daniel Sturridge when he was mooted as a makeweight in the Torres deal. the prevailing 'wisdom' was that he was a vastly overrated wastrel with a serious attitude problem, based on pretty much nothing - just a difficult spell for a young and obviously talented player; i was more or less on my own in suggesting he was still a serious prospect - you don't lose that overnight - and a bargain at the rumoured £5m valuation. and i've been proved completely right, of course, and as usual.

plus, re: torres. IF you're highlighting the United game for his class....well.....he missed a sitter that suarez would be proud of.

yeh, i know, but he looked excellent that day. and then next game he gets sent off, and everything just seems to have collapsed for him since. there's still a player there, i'm convinced of it. whether i'd spend £20m trying to confirm it would depend on what other options there are in the market, but i'd defo consider it.

I never had a problem with Sturridge, in fact he's exactly the type of player I would want. I don't see how he's comparable to the injury prone, lost his pace, cunt, that Torres is.

Problem being now is that sturridge has proved himself good enough for chelsea at a young age so they won't sell him unless its for tons

I'd rather bring n'goals back than bring torres back.

did you read the post? because if you didn't want him in january at a low price then the situations are somewhat comparable.

Torres still had enough pace in his last season with us - i find it hard to believe he's lost more since cos he's barely been injured, has he?

Torres is just as fast as Suarez is now, is Suarez too slow?

Torres is slower than he used to be, but he is by no means slow.

possibly. his injury-proneness is an imponderable at this point, really. hasn't played much, hasn't been injured. rumours of problems, unproven and unproveable.

so imo it's better to debate what informatin we do have, as clearly no-one's going to advocate signing him IF he's got serious problems.

But Suarez loves playing for us, chases everything, makes things happen out of nothing. Torres hasn't done that for over a couple of years now. Too busy stuck in woe is me mode.
