Gareth Thomas, take a bow son, take a bow.

Pesam- stick on the pointy hat and sit in the corner.

Doc ye can stick the pointy hat up yer arse. You chose to focus on my one incorrect assertion whilst ignoring my correcter ones..................

Never rule out the Germans - Fuck that I'm ruling them out, they probably won't even get out of the group stage but even if they do they're going home the next match. WRONG

Brazil always do well - Fuck this an' all, they rely on Elano and Robinho! Going home early. RIGHTish

The host nation always qualifies from the groups - Not a chance this time around - their best player is Pienaar FFS. RIGHT

A European team has never won the WC outside of Europe - Until 2010. RIGHT

Kudos to Gareth though for spotting that Germany were a decent team. I judged them on the fact that I was aware of about 8 of the starting line-up and I saw weaknesses............. Klose is getting on a bit and not a regular for Bayern, Podolski is no more than average, Mertesacker & Freidrich are very limited, Schweinsteiger is very good but not quite in the same league as Sneijder, Xavi, Iniesta etc - what caught me out was that the 3 young lads who I hadn't seen much of Muller, Ozil and Khadeira all turned out to be excellent.

Having said that, I had a big bet against the Germans last night because I wasn't convinced that their victories over the Argies and England were quite as meritorious as the media suggested because England played shite and the Argies defence and midfield were laughably bad.

Anyways, Spain will prove too strong for the Dutch in the final and will win at a canter 2-0.

RIGHT Dream-believer could have predicted this- doesn't count (They were 6/4 to qualify from the group which hardly makes it a certainty) * apparently Dreambeliever predicted they wouldn't qualify for the finals.*

A European team has never won the WC outside of Europe - Until 2010. MASSIVELY FUCKING RIGHT

Feck off Doc, Brazil were 2nd favourites and therefore the quater finals is deemed an early exit. They only went one round further than England who were deemed a failure and they went out to the first decent team that they played.

Pesam, you've been waiting a long time to get the 'I told ye so' line out. You had to wait til the semi in which they were beaten 1-0 with the goal coming from a corner. Beaten by arguably the best team in the world. Germany we're great in this tournament who hammered England and Argentina along the way. Spain didn't allow them get near the ball last night and will probably go on to win the world cup.

Actually the exact opposite ILD, I never blow my own trumpet on bets (as can be witnessed on the betting forum) but when I get most predictions right and someone pulls me up on ONE I got wrong then I just feel it appropriate to point out that I get it right every so often.

Re: Germany, I haven't said "I told you so" after their defeat - in fact the opposite, I've admitted I was wrong - read it again.

Both Pesam and Gareth can look back on this thread with great comfort. More rights than wrongs, easily.

Which can't be said about my predictions so far. Although I thought my wager on the ze Germans before the WC started could be rather lucrative after all. It wasn't though.
