Sterling ?

Borini ?

Allen ?

I think there is a few players that should be stepping it up this season, maybe the world cup next year will push them on this season

Lots of them need to.

Henderson is the one that has potential to figure a lot for us this season. We're pretty weak in the middle and if he gets his act together and starts really imposing himself on games he could make a big difference for us.

What's the deal with Coutinho? Have I missed something?

Don't want to single anyone out. I think we're gonna be better collectively. However, I still think we need one or two more players.

Depends on a variety of things, but I'd like to keep the triangle of CB-CB-DM a lot tighter than it was last year. I think that'll happen by default cos without Carra, our defensive line should play higher up the pitch and ultimately closer to Lucas.

Ahead of him, we need Gerrard and Allen (or whomever it is) to control games.

I'm not at all sold on the role Gerrard played last night; of tempo-controller. It's not his best asset, and I don't think he's great at it.

Sterling, Coutinho and Sturridge will improve. Hopefully Allen plays like the15M player that we thought he is.

I have a feeling Sturridge will have a monster of a season. I have absolutely nothing to base this on.

without Carra, our defensive line should play higher up the pitch and ultimately closer to Lucas.
ah yes now we have the super speedy Toure

Sent from a mobile device - apologies for any crap

Glenn Johnson for me at times he can be brilliant other times a yard dog, he steps up we will be better at both ends of the pitch as he can add a lot to our attacking play. Also a big season for Skrtel!

Is Skrtel actually gonna stay and play second fiddle to Touré

Yes.

Martin Skrtel claims he is ready to scrap for his place at Liverpool again this season.
Skrtel knows the competition at centre-half remains intense with Kolo Toure having replaced Jamie Carragher and Andre Wisdom impressing so far during the Reds' pre-season.
The Slovakian international lost his place in the second half of last season and is determined to win it back.
"Every day is a competition," said Skrtel. "You need to work hard and show your best every day in training.
"Since I came to Liverpool there have always been three, four or even five players that play centre-back.

"It isn't easy, but I try to do my best and I try to show my manager that I'm able to play."
Skrtel has played alongside Wisdom at centre-half as Liverpool have won all three pre-season games without conceding and he is impressed with the youngster.
"It was the second or third game we have played together and I think it's working," he said. "The main thing is we didn't concede a goal.
"Andre is a young player, but he has quality and is a big lad. The future is in front of him so it's great for him to play against a team like we played in Melbourne Victory and the experience can only help him."

No one is going to step up, we are shite, suarez is leaving, the worlds against us, every player is shite, the manager is shite, the owners are shite, the grass is shite....

Many need to

Henderson needs to continue to progress.

Allen needs to recover his confidence and form, otherwise he'll be out the door next season.I'm confident he will, because I really rate Allen as a player.

Skrtel needs to recvover his 2011/2012 form, which was brilliant and often goes forgotten on here.

Same is true of Lucas.

We have too many CM's who have to prove their worth. I'd swap two of them for one player who could guarantee quality performances week after week.

Plenty ought to. A season under Rodgers and his playing style, techniques, whatever. They should know how they need to play, we shouldn't see the kind of mistakes where Skrtel did that shit back pass against City or things like that.

So the players that can improve and probably only have this season to show it are Skrtel, Lucas, Borini & Downing

I guess the likes of Allen, Henderson and Enrique have to start being more consistent as well

Allen already had the knowledge of the new system and was still shite...Passing it backwards or sideways is the same in every system, that doesn't take any getting used to.

Enrique strikes me as the sort of player to be peaks and troughs, that just the way he will play.

Borini, he will, in my opinion, never be more than a squad player preferably one who only ever plays in the early rounds of the carlng cup.
