Will he believe again?

Carragher had a really good game for us?

I honestly cannot remember. It always seems like when he plays he's either rubbish, poor or average.

Surely to be still getting as many games as he does he should be putting in better displays than he is.

I'm worried what City will do on the weekend if he starts.

Is it time he hung up his boats?

Seriously though, I don't remember. He probably did well last season in some game when Agger was injured.

I think this topic is a little out of order. Its not fair to judge someone like him who has in the past given all when he has played for us. He was never the best defender of his generation but he has been and still is a loyal servant to this club, witha very strong character. I thought he had a good game tonight.

I've never questioned his service to us Moran, I'm just seeing if others see what I see, that is that I think he is no longer up to the task for us.
He'll always be a legend for his service and his displays over the years have been sublime but I honestly can't remember the last time he was in a rich vein of form or was the first defender on the team.

We have no room for sentiment with our current standing.

Lest we forget who our opposition was tonight.

I'd be looking to the height and pace of Coates on Sunday.

I agree that he should not be playing the high intensity PL games - I am with you on that. But your asking a very open and deep question saying:-

"...I honestly cannot remember. It always seems like when he plays he's either rubbish, poor or average."
Bit too much to stomach that comment, we can all see his legs are not there anymore, and to be honest we only play him when one of the main two cannot play OR are reluctant to play youngsters in Central Defence. I think when we come accross really weak teams in the Cup competitions - we will see him take part.

When we need an old head and experience at the back then he plays, when we have that already then its's OK to put Coates in.

Quite. People are hapless aren't they? I know he made the mistake early doors but it's early days for us this season too, mistakes happen all over (look at the missed opportunities, misplaced passes throughout the side), he had a good solid game and got better as the game wore on. He might not be what he was, hardly surprising given his age and the amount of football he played, but he's still capable of filling a gap for us in lesser games this season.

Why's it always the same posters posting the same needless drivel and waiting to pounce on players like Carra at every opportunity? Congratulations, you can get the boot in and tell us all how right you've always been, now that he's 34 and on the wane.

People forget that when Sami was ageing he used to make mistakes too, in hindsight though most acknowledge we could have done with him for an extra season as cover and experience.

Oh and, shut the fuck up Modo.

Totally Mark, good post. Whenever I read the oft posted Sami love-ins, which I totally endorse BTW, I always think that half the people lavishing praise were the same ones who used to slag him off.

I thought Carra played well last night yeah, against Hearts.

I'd play Coates vs City cos i don't think carra should be playing 2 games a week anymore, and if Rodgers wanted Carra on Sunday, he'd have played Coates

Whether people think Carragher had a solid 90 minutes or not against Hearts, who are essentially the equivalent to a league 1 club, it has to be painfully obvious that he would get bummed for pace by everyone of City's front 6. Also as SO said, another game so quickly?... No.

I mentioned one time that I remembered Sami getting slagged off.

I was told it didn't happen.

I fucking knew it did.

Wankers.

I've been saying it for three years Marky Mark. It's just getting worse and worse. The guy's past it, so stop romanticising it. He had a good 5 year period, that I'll give him. Before that he was a an "OK" right/left back.

Clean sheet, he had a decent game.
Carra will play 20-25 games this season. Deservedly so.
Im sure he will have more good games than bad ones.

All hail Carra!

Carra of now gets destroyed by any half decent forward who has a bit of pace and/or strength. He's lost his upper body strength and can no longer contain forwards who are on the move and run around him.

He's a complete Legend, a true hero but i dread seeing his name on the teamsheet.

I was a bit disappointed the 'Carra 700 games' thread only got 22 responses. Especially given the number of post and threads devoted to loads of other gobshites that we've been unfortunately saddled with e.g. Aquafanny.
