What's going to happen with A&A?

I still think we paid too much for Alberto given he'd played no first team football. But he's young so should be afforded some time before we deem it a waste of money. Aspas? Nah, don't get it. One decent season in the top flight. He's just not good enough.

I've a spanish mate who's a massive vigo fan . He wasn't sure Aspas would add much to us and was surprised we signed him . Thing is if he could see that why couldn't our scouts? . But maybe like the missus says i'm being premature .

Aspas was routinely labelled as an astute signing in the media. (and by some on here)

I think that might change between now and the end of the season.

Liverpool's best start to a season for many campaigns will also have played its part in limiting Alberto's opportunities this season.
All of his five league appearances, so far, have been as a substitute and Alberto admits he has had to work hard in the gym to improve his physical conditioning.
Alberto said: "I would like to play more, I am waiting for my chances. The truth is I need to play more and I hope to do it.
"I have to wait for the manager to start having confidence in me and then repay his confidence on the pitch.
"I have been working a few months and I have learned and I am going to wait for my moment.
"I have discovered it is faster football, more physical, and you have to be in better physical condition.
"I have improved in many aspects: my physique is better and I am heavier now - these details contribute to better preparation."

Aspas looks shit.

Alberto I really really like, shows tonnes of promise, I kinda think it's a shame he hast got the league cup to get some games need his belt, cos he looks an ideal number 10 player.

Aspas looked a smart player in Preseason. He hasn't turned bad over night I take it but he was downright awful when we reverted to the 3-5-2 formation.

Had he been available against Fulham he would have been a different player. All that said he won't be missed should he leave already I just don't think he is all bad.

Albeto hasn't impressed me at all so far on the other hand. Have he had some good moments so far I have missed?

I can't imagine we'll get 7M back for Aspas so it might end up an expensive punt though at the end of the market you will end up losing 3/4M on players regularly. Spurs just bought loads of them and played the percentages in the hope that enough will turn out okay. We buy one or two so they seem like bigger mistakes than they are.

I don't have an issue with buying players like Alberto (although I think everyone recognized that we probably overpaid) but I do have an issue with the way Liverpool buy them. He seems to be yet another example of a young player bought on the back of first-team potential without any real plan to get him to realize that potential. He needs to be playing week in, week out and not sitting on the bench for the majority of the season. Chelsea just farm them out straight away and whilst their youngsters have bigger reputations and therefore are easier to loan out, I think there is no excuse for not doing something with them.

Coates, Alberto, Illori, Wilson = 24M. That's a hideous amount of money for a club in our position to get very little return on. We need to make the purchases of Alberto and Illori count.

I guess you can try and justify each purchase individually but you do wonder when taken as a pair, who we may have missed out on due to lack of funds or who we could've bought with that extra 15M.

exactly , it was the same last yr , lots of young players who need playing time . Borini , coutinho, allen , shelvey ,sterling and even Henderson and Sturridge. This year it's Illori , Alberto and to an extent Ibe added to the list . They need playing time but can we afford to be patient and give it to them ? And if we don't then how do we help them progress ? I mean they obviously have a plan but i don't fully understand it cause some of these lads sit on the bench for 90mins and then don't even play with the reserves that often . I guess we're happy for 1 or 2 to make it and take the hit of 1 or 2 failing .
