What a fantastic football club we are

Klopp said he was going to take a years sabatical and rejected several offers.
Wheter or not he would find it hard to turn us down I think thats more in reference to after the sabatical.
"Reading between the lines" is just wishful thinking for those who wanted Rodgers gone.
If you read the interviews with him you can understand why he wanted to take a year off.

If we're after a new manager next summer he'll be top of the list for sure.

What about the remarks made by his agent?

I'd have taken one of a number of good foreign coaches, there are at least 4 or 5 of them about.

Then I'd have appointed a proper Director of Football.

I'm pretty certain we'd have been starting the season with a much more sensible squad and a coach who can properly organise the players at his disposal.
Ancelotti and Klopp were the only 2 worth considering from the rumoured candidates I saw.

These?

Jurgen Klopp’s agent hints at potential move to Liverpool

Jurgen Klopps agent hints at potential move to Liverpool [Spox]Jurgen Klopp recently left Borussia Dortmund after an incredibly successful seven year stint at the club.

He is set to take a sabbatical but his agent, speaking to spox.com, offered some very interest quotes regarding a potential move to Liverpool.

Despite not saying Liverpool directly, Marc Kosicke admitted that the Premier League interests Jurgen Klopp and noted that it’s not just the top 4 teams.

“The Premier League is very exciting,” said Klopp’s agent. “And we don’t only mean the top four. There are other great clubs below them.”

This is almost certainly directed at Liverpool FC, a club currently managed by Brendan Rodgers – a man who will be under serious scrutiny throughout his fourth season at Anfield.

Klopp’s agent did confirm that the 47 year old manager needed a break from the game, admitting that Klopp wants to be “single” because it is “difficult to dive into the next relationship after two big loves.”

If things don’t turn around for Brendan Rodgers this season, Liverpool fans would love to see the eccentric Jurgen Klopp in charge at the helm.

I just can't get enthused as our defence is just so weak and I know we're going to be a soft target. Hopefully we'll be exciting to watch again, but its fucking annoying when we can't defend to save our lives.

Maybe we should give the new coaching staff a chance to maybe marshall players into a decent defensive system.

I have more faith that the new guys who have come in can do this.

Lovren, Skrtel and Sakho are not bad players, theyve been able to be part of decent defenses in the past.... I think we should wait and see how they play with new coaching tbh

Yeah. It's not exactly subtle is it?

In any case, the sabbatical is a side issue. If he was genuinely set on that we could at least have reduced Rodgers' influence and put things in place for him to take over next season.

Instead we've given him more say than ever. You don't do that if you want Klopp but just can't get him quite yet.

Think about it.

I don't think Rodgers had been given any more power.

I think our next manager is already employed by the club though.

Or, they could be giving him enough rope to hang himself.

Who's to say they haven't said to him he gets things all his way & has to deliver X this season, fail to do so & he falls on his sword or they do it for him.

I can imagine he's walked in there complaining about things out of his influence being the problem, so it isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Think it was Bascombe who said that FSG agreed with Rodgers that there were some distractions at the club last season that wasnt his fault.

Pretty telling the Ayre comment on Rodgers getting every player on his transfer list this season.
Its all down to him now. If he doesnt perform he's out.

I dont doubt for a second that FSG have sounded out some possible future managers but I highely doubt they've hired someone. That would be a very strange move.

Maybe not power but the signings are more his than at any time since the first summer.

That's significant.

And you don't let someone spend spend £70m odd on players just out of a sense of fair play.

You do it because you back him pretty much completely.

Agreed. The change in backroom staff and Ayre commenting on Rodgers transfer list being achieved is significant.
They're backing him 100%. Which is the right way to go. Either back him or replace him.

They did in a way back him but they also put their own stamp on the coaching staff with two strong, former managers at a lower level, being hired.

I don't see Rodgers getting the boot any time soon, and if he does I think one of them is the next man for the job

No, it's only right if you're very sure he's the right guy.

If you've got doubts it's foolish.

Who? O'Driscoll? Seriously?

If so they would have sacked him. Which they didnt. So its pretty safe to say FSG support him 100%.
But he'll be gone if the results are poor.

Yeah I know, that's what I'm saying.

But if they were like 50/50 with him, I'm then saying this back him or sack him thing is bullshit.

If we didn't go all out for Klopp, then its a bit idiotic on our part to be honest.

Maybe Rodgers deserved one more season, but think about it, if you're in an ok job, but suddenly the job you've really wanted comes available, you'll go for it - because upgrading is always in your best interest.

Klopp is liked all over the world, would instil much needed energy and enthusiasm in the players, and for the first time since the early days of Rafa Benitez, he'd have united the entire support base. The lethargic scepticism you see from so many supporters right now would be immediately transformed to excited optimism.

I'm still hoping we get him if Rodgers fucks up again, but it looks likely he's heading to Bayern next year. Still, rather that then see him at another PL club.

Exactly this. It's make or break time. "Ok Mr. Rodgers, we'll do it your way, but if you fuck up, you'll be joining the dole queue".

If he fucks up, and Klopp is still interested after his little break, then it's a win win situation.

Win win!!

I love it. Here you go Jurgen. Win us the league. Here are a load of players you don't want. That should be fine but if not we have a good academy. We spent all the money on Rodgers' choices. Yes we know they're shit but it's only fair!

If he's as good as everyone reckons he'd be getting the best out of whatever players he'd have.

Which isn't as good as him getting the best out of better players or even just ones that he wants.
Peter I don't think you get my point. I firmly believe that Klopp wasn't coming to us this season even if Rodgers got sacked. Yes, getting him this season would've been far better. But I don't think that was ever going to happen. You obviously think otherwise and I respect that. I just don't agree with it.

Talk over here about Frank de Boer leaving Ajax after getting dumped out of Champions League by Rapid Vienna the other night.

No I just think that in the scenario that he wouldn't come now as opposed to later it still doesn't follow to let Rodgers spend £70m on his guys when he's effectively just serving time.

There have to be better ways of dealing with that dead time.

So far he's only spent the half of that figure when you offset it against players sold. You sound like one of those fucking manc twats that always try to get one over on us when it comes to money spent. They can't grasp the concept of net spend either.

Haha Rosco will enjoy seeing someone accuse ME of not grasping the concept of net spend.

In this instance it's gross spend that's relevant. Because the total amount available to a manager or DOF to build a side is the budget + sales. I'm not complaining about Rodgers' performance relative to backing (net spend most relevant). I'm complaining about how the total amount of actual funding we had to deploy in the market was used.

You see the difference?

Well take it up with FSG then. Like I said, this looks to me like they're giving him a make or break opportunity.
