We're just a little bit Shit tbh..

Realistically, we're a team with a new Manager, with a fairly limited transfer budget, with a squad of overpaid players most of whom have displayed a consistency for under-performing, we have a couple of great players, a bunch of average ones that some of our fans mistakenly think are great etc. etc.
Knew all this at the start of the season. The odd good result gets people carried away but our squad is nowhere near good enough for a consistent push in this League. We'll come 6th or 7th again this season, for the 4th season in a row. That's fairly indicative of where we're at.
Apart from Suarez, Sturridge, Johnson, Gerrard and the younger players, most of the others are neither here nor there.

Fair summary... spot on in fact...

We had 15 internationals on duty in the midweek and 2 players calling in sick. We are behind WBA and Swansea and at par with Stoke. Hello!!

Half the Internationals are playing for average International teams...

I hate this we have 15 Internationals so we must be better than such n such bollox.. If we had a team full of Spanish, Brazilian, Argentinian and German Proven internationals however it would be a different story.

Dont give me this Lucas is Brazillian nonsense.. he would even get anywhere near their side at the mo..

Your harsh. We have 3 international Captains. We have English (Best team in the world before every championship), uruguayan (semis last world cup), Spanish and even the Welsh Xavi. What do we really need to build a gap towards these teams?

When you have something like 25 shots on goal, also missing a penalty, while the other team scores 2 goals from 3 attempts, it's not needing a plan b that's the problem.

That not entirely the picture though is it mate. How many of our shots were on target and 'really' tested the keeper? We had the non-pen which Stevie even put away, and it was a decent save. But I can't remember many others that their keeper could save by stretch out an arm or a leg, they were pretty much all at him. How many times did we get through their defence and get one on one? We never. Every week when we don't win we claim we had a million shots etc, but most aren't usually on target, and the ones that are are usually straight forward for the keeper.

We missed Sturridge tonight and a more clinical edge.

Our defence also made their strikers look like a fowler/linekar/pele hybrid. So that's not a true reflection either. There's not many games this season that the baggies will get 2 shots and 2 goals and win.

It really bugs me when people say that, we've outspent about 98% of Europe in the last decade.

We just insist on backing managers, cos its the right thing to do apparently

The shooting accuracy or stupid offsides is not part of a plan a or b, which was my point.
Our plan a was working, in that WBA did not have a single shot on goal until, what 70 odd minutes, after Gerrard missed his peno.
We could, and should have done better with the chances we had.
Plan a would have been absolutely fine had we been more clinical in front of goal.

And getting behind the defence is no easy feat when a team is parking their team in front of their goal. It's something the could certainly have happened had we scored the first goal to make the game more open.

It's a fucking shame today, because we were a completely different side to the one that played WBA at the start of the season when we looked a worse side than WBA. We dominated today.

Yup.. and thats the point that annoys me..

Rodgers is out of his depth.. Nothing convinces me otherwise..

Or a positive that a recent signing has made such a massive impact.
True. But my point is, that missing a player who has only played a handful of games for us is pathetic. It just shows how shit we can be up front, even with Suarez in the team.

I'm not sure why Borini is getting so much criticism. There were players who started who did much worse then him. Yeah he missed a chance but it was hardly clear cut. Shelvey, for one, could hardly pass the ball. I didn't really notice Lucas either. Not sure if that's good or bad. And Agger was at fault for both their goals.

Wrong team from the start. Shelvey should be fucked off, stirling should have started on the right and let him run at that crab ridgewell all day long.

Poor choice from BR

See ya Jonjo, not good enough

Sorry, Chan. I was speaking generally. I wasn't necessarily referring to tonight's game. I didn't actually see it, to be honest. But In the half dozen or so games he's played for us, he's pretty much offered us nothing in any shape or form. For me, he's been a huge disappointment.

It wasn't aimed at you specifically mate, but I just don't think we've seen enough of him to really judge him yet. He struggled at first, then got injured and now he's trying to slowly make his way back into the team. I agree he hasn't shown a lot so far but there have been a few bright spots so I'm willing to give him time.

You didn't miss much. I watched the game with a WBA fan. It doesn't get much worse than that.

all true enough so the question is "what is being done about it ?". Well maybe it would be better to say "are we doing enough ?" because for me Rodgers has put alot of his own stamp on this team , he's spent 50m but currently chooses to bench most of that . So it means he must like alot of what he has here . And that is my worry , is this really just a case of time , will the team improve as Rodgers and others seem to believe or is there something more fundamentally wrong that can only be fixed with money and another overhaul ? . If it's the latter and rodger's plans to do that then fair enough but i wouldn't be surprised to see the majority of this team here next season . (yes i am aware he might have his hands tied budget wise )

Loads of threads discussing that from pre-season right through to last month mate.

Some people think its a 3 or 4 yr process of overhaul without an end guarantee.
Some people thought signing a striker would win us the League.

Choose wisely.

In fairness, Jonjo is not a striker, and shouldn't be operating so far up the field. I don't really understand why he was included yesterday. His confidence is obviously shot. Throwing him in at the top of the field in a really important game and after a prolonged absence from the side was nonsensical. It's like Rodgers wants him to fail.

Harsh. Jonjo has had a up and down season. But he has not been given the chance to cement a position, and he has been sacrifized even when he has been playing well. he is a good lad, and will build on this season come the summer.
Fair enough, he probably hasn't played enough for people to make a fair judgement as to how good or bad of a footballer he is. But in the little bit of game time he's had this season, he's been appalling.

At present, I much rather seeing Downing in the team than Shelvey. Kinda says it all really.

Nealmac now you're being harsh on downing.

Downing deserves his starting place as he's been good recently. Your original comment was less than damming indictment of shelvey, and more a "well duh" comment.

Besides the fact shelvey isn't a winger is neither here nor there
