I am disappointed by lack of serious firepower, we were linked with so many big attacking signings and we end up with Moses. Who will challenge coutinho to keep him competitive? Who will come as plan b? Aspas, sterling?

somewhere amongst the ship of fools, a man has a thought.

I do agree with Skully like, we were promised first team signings. We were "linked" (nudge nudge wink wink) with Willian and Myhktarian for 30m. The kind of signings who would walk into our first team and improve us straight away. And we got Moses. On loan. Our best front three with Suarez back is Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho.
So we havnt improved and in the middle we still have to pick from Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson and Allen.

We should have signed a top DM or a top AM or a top LW and we havnt.

We have done a GREAT job at the back. But there may well be a lot of second halves watching us cling to a 1-0 lead.

What I've been saying all summer. We need another creative midfielder.

I think it was a very difficult transfer season to navigate, and we didn't make any massive errors. Not sure why we didn't sell Skrtl, and in agreement with Sheik regarding Borini.

The number one priority for me was getting CBs in and I was growing increasingly worried we weren't going to do that, so I'm pleased. The sad reality to me is that this generation of defense, now that its matured, never really panned out as we would have hoped, so now we're investing in the next one.

My only concern about some of the attacking purchases is that they are similar to options we already have, but at least that similarity means that our profile for an attacker is someone who has technical ability on the ball and is creative. I would like to see more power, but Sturridge has that, and for the longest fucking time we seemed to split the qualities of an attacker into roles a lot, which meant for more stagnant play. We bought players because they were fast, because they could cross the ball, because they headed the ball. A lot of them were not that great at being footballers.

In the end if its another incremental improvement, that's all we need to keep doing, and I'm happy with that. I can't reach a conclusion about how successful the transfer season has been though really, because I've no idea how good these players are, as I won't pretend that I've seen them play that much. If we've bought a solid CB, that will be a massive improvement that in itself will yield more points.

The big question for me is Suarez, we've made an investment in keeping him this year. Despite some hysteria on here, he's easily our best attacking player when on form, and if our team isn't better with a player of his quality in it, because of how it sets up, then we've fucked up. And we need it to be better to have more convincing and productive play. As happy as I am with the results, I think our start to the season flatters us a little.

It's got to be Suarez, Sturridge and Moses against the teams that park their buses, with Coutinho in front of Gerrard and Lucas.

I think it's more positive to look at all the transfers starting this calendar year. We strengthened the attack very well in that regard with Coutinho and Sturridge. Unfortunately we're yet to really see how those two will perform with Suarez due to Sturridge's injury when he first came, then Suarez's suspension.
Which kind of makes it all the more exciting to see how they all play in a few weeks. Against scum. This is a GREAT season.

Yep I pretty much agree with that. It's not perfect but far from wank.

By biggest fear is that our midfield costs us the 4th in away games.

Suaerz will be like a new signing ... and it will be a creative force we've clearly been lacking in the 2nd half of the last 3 games ... Moses is a shrewd pick up and will add some pace and power. Farky has said something wise - there's constant improvement.

We still have time and the number 11 is still vacant (Assaidi's number)

TICK TICK....

WILL YOU FUCK OFF!!!!!

It could have been better. But we've spent close to 50 mill adressing the issues we had last year.
Gotten rid of dead wood and the squad is starting to look very strong.
We've also kept the best player in the Premiership and he'll return in 2 games.

We should have signed one more attacking player but if the right player isnt available then I'm happy we're waiting until January. Surley we've learned our lesson about panic buying?
Dont write of Alberto or Aspas after 3 league games and dont underestimate what Moses can bring to the team.

We've been after Mata today, Mkhitarian, Willian and Costa. We're targeting the right type of players and will pull the trigger when the right deal is there. No point in signing someone just for the sake of one more player. We've got Sterling and Ibe pushing aswell.

Saying its been a wank window is just plain stupid though.
Could have been better but its been a good transfer window.

Assaidi is another odd one. We moan about a lack of left sided players but let him go without getting in a left sided player.

People should also remember the last two of those games have been very tricky and even the better players(like Coutinho) have struggled. In their first season I'm happy if Aspas etc. can help us beat the weaker sides more consistently and build from there.
