Torres needs the team built around him to prosper. Rafa did that and madding great. He wouldn't get that luxury now. Would be a pointless signing and a waste of a lot of money.
God's second coming was worth it for sentimental reasons, but to be honest, not quite worth it for football reasons. I think Torres 2nd coming would not be satisfying in either respect.
I would have agreed with that if Rafa hadn't gone to Chelsea. But even Rafa couldn't get him back to his previous from and he did try building the team around torres. He thrives on space, through good movement, and someone who can play a good through ball, like Gerrard and Yossi both used to offer him, but in a team that's adept at picking out passes through the eye of a needle and good movement in the attacking third (see Sturridge moving the players away from Sterling the other night), I don't see why he couldn't adapt. Chelsea have never really used him correctly, Ba hasn't really flourished there either, they've relied on Drogba for years as the battering ram (I know that's doing him an injustice) and it's a setup they've not really successfully replaced.
He probably is a lost cause, but I don't think Chelsea has necessarily been the best environment for him or for him to be judged, he's never hit it off there as a player or a person. He'll never replicate what he had with us.

Better to just say we screwed them for £50m, no?One of the only reasons i'd want him back would be so that we could say we screwed over chelsea by selling for £50m and buying him back for £5m.. It would never happen though.

Romantic.Call me a romantic, but I would be happy with him coming back.
