Torres

quite simply, we shouldn't be looking to trade players so we break even in terms of quality. keep our star players and bring in more.

oh is this swapping suarez too? nah they can get to fuck, id take torres on his bill for 10 mill or under though

torres is worth 10m at the very most - iluis is worth 50m at the least. hope that story is rubbish.

Mata + Lukaku for suarez would be nice
That would be fantastic. And the way things go for Chelsea after transfer dealings with us, Suarez will go on a biting spree in October and get banned for life.

I've held out long enough, but I'm finally going to let you guys in on a little secret. Plz keep this on SCM so that my source doesn't get exposed.

Fernando Torres isn't very good at football anymore.

Third choice at best?

Yes, third choice at best. He's never going to be ahead of Suarez and Sturridge, so why bother paying him a big wage to sit on the bench. Especially considering he seems to be a confidence player and isn't suited to that role at all.

Ah. I agree with that of course but the rumour was that Suarez was going in the opposite direction

What the fuck are we going to do with his song if he re-signs?

It doesn't..... It doesn't.... Make sense anymore...

Torres in his pomp was a fucking sublime piece of machinery, capable of wonderful goals. He isn't that player anymore even if there is still a good player there. Not good enough to forget the moping about with a face like a spanked arse when we *needed* him to dig in. Carra has been pretty vocal about Torres ' lack of effort in the final 12 months, and it clearly still rankles with him. So it should with us too. I'd do business for Lukaku and 20-25 million.

Good judges like you keep mentioning Lukaku and it puzzles me a little, not because I don't rate the guy (he's clearly some player) but because I'm not convinced about him fitting into Rodgers' quick-sharp passing football. Genuine question: how would you see Lukaku fitting in?

Well, he'd be competing for Sturridge for the CF position but he could certainly play left or right in a front 3. He's monstrously good. As good as I see Sturridge becoming, I think Lukaku could become even better. He has an incredible range of assets at his disposal- pace, power, shooting, arial strength. If any player in world football has the attributes to become Drogba's heir, it is him.

Torres would have to make an impression off the bench and that requires a very good, competitive and hungry attitude - something he was devoid of in his last 12 months at Anfield

He left because he thought he was too good for us. The reality now is we're too good for him. And we're a bit shit.

I wouldn't be against a loan deal, but he would have to prove himself again in a red shirt to justify us spending a penny on him. My guess is that wouldn't sound too appealing to him and he'd rather go back to Spain.

It doesn't make any sense but most footballing fairy tales don't. I'd be excited on the off chance however small it could pay off. And let's face it, we as a club are pretty much all about the off chance now. As long as its not too financially damaging - a loan would be super - surely we can indulge ourselves for a bit of fun.

Around the £8-10M figure for Torres I would be ok, even happy with

I do honestly believe he can recapture some of the form he had, and a change of scenery could do him a world of good. This late in the window, it's a gamble worth taking.

Other thing to note is that if Chelsea loan us a fringe player like Torres or Moses now, odds are they'll still be a fringe player an year from now as well. It's not as if they're going to try and gouge us on the price next summer, Chelsea typically sells to the first bidder that makes everybody happy, taking the simpler route.

I don't believe this bollocks for a second. Torres is gone, done and dusted. There is no need to reopen that particular wound - everybody needs to move on. If Rodgers is really wasting his time on this (instead of players like Eriksen or Yarmolenko) I would be disappointed.

God's second coming was worth it for sentimental reasons, but to be honest, not quite worth it for football reasons. I think Torres 2nd coming would not be satisfying in either respect.

Torres needs the team built around him to prosper. Rafa did that and madding great. He wouldn't get that luxury now. Would be a pointless signing and a waste of a lot of money.
