I've said all along that we will finish in the Top 2 with United behind us. All we need to do is reverse yesterdays' result at Anfield and have decent results against the other Top 4 plus keep putting the also rans to the sword as we are doing. For me Sunderland away is as big a game as yesterday's. A win there will show everyone that we will not be dropping back into the pack. 6 points behind at this stage of the season is nothing. Wigan and Sunderland have both shown that in the last two weeks.

Would I take a top four finish?

No, I wouldn't. But my dreams at the start of the year have been seriously dented.

I thought we'd drop Gerrard back to cover the absence of Alonso until Aquilani got fit, and that hasn't been the case.

We can claw this back, however it's going to take some really big performances.

I can't believe the question of a top four finish was even asked! While I think we'll be in tough to battle for the title, we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. To write off the season and accept a mediocre (by the standards of this club) finish at this point is ludicrous.

I really, truly also believe that we'll win the title too...

Though we've started slower than last season, we're still close enough that, once we avaoid last year's November - February run, which we will, we'll be a few points up on our overall tally from last year.

And that'll be enough.
 
Aquilani to get fit, and then do his impression of footballing Teenwolf ........ with the other 10 players on the pitch to act as water carriers and cheerleaders - Prem won in March.
 
Previous seasons have seen us finish like a steam train. This has been down to rotation, so Rafa has intimated anyway. This season we have hardly changed things around like in previous seasons. I hope we dont run out of steam in the last 10 games.

Fuck it, I am in with Onky and the boys. Just maybe not as confident.
 
Would I take 4th place now? Absolutely not. Doesn't mean I think we will definately win it but I'm confident that we still have a great chance.

I am concerned about the way things are going. Not because of the result on Sunday. Losing away to Chelsea is no big deal. Its only problem because of the silly defeats against Villa and Spurs.

However, I refuse to believe that United won't eventually suffer due to the loss of Ronaldo and Tevez. Chelsea will lose players to the African Nations Cup which is bound to have some effect and although Arsenal are a wonderful side on their day they can be pretty woeful at other times.

I'm think the top 4 will be the same sides as in most years but I think who finishes where is still wide open

Rafa is going out every game to win. Thats all i ever wanted.
We've missed Agger and of course Alonso/Aquilani but we're still in the same place the mancs were last year. And riddle me this. Why did the mancs win the league last year? Was it the games against the top 4 or 5 teams that won it for them? NO.
It was the way they went out and bashed up the dross. They took almost maximum points off the bottom half of the table and that was enough. We can lose another 5 games and STILL get 90 points. Dont get hung up on this arbitrary number of defeats a team is or isnt allowed. We MUST continue to smash the weaker teams and lets be honest 4-0, 3-2, 4-0, 3-2, 6-1 would intimate to me he intends to do just that. Has he rotated Torres and Gerrard vs the dross? No, he's on a mission and i GENUINELY think he realises that we can win this by putting 2/3 of the premiership to the sword, and that if we do that, what happens vs the other 3rd is irrelevant.
We're going to lose more games the way we now play, but we are going to win A LOT more too. And that will win us the league.

At this point last year we had 17 points from 7 games, and this year it's 15 points from 8 games...

Hardly a reason to panic!

And aren't we winning matches we were drawing then?

Just to add to this point, last year United drew 6 matches, and we drew 11.
They lost 4, we lost 2. Once we turn some of those draws into wins, there's lots of room for occasional losses...

We'll be ok. Who knows if we'll win the league, but there's no shame in losing at the bridge, especially when defensive error is to blame...

Im not that confident, but can completely understand Oncys point of view. Just I'd argue that Chelsea could top the top 4 league and still take teams to the sword and we'd finish second. I love our team, I love what I know we are capable of. I am so excited for Agger to come back into this team. And last Aquilani is a wonderful talent that we get to add. We'll need to find that defensive stability though because I still expect Rafa to advance past group stages in the CL and there is only one weak team in our group and we couldn't dispatch of them so easily at home...
