As Squigs said, they need to sell to balance the FFP books....the likelihood is they'll want to sell 1 of the big boys (Isak/Bruno/Botman) for 100m or as close to than sell all their experienced players such as Trippier, Wilson, Almiron, Schar.

I really like the look of Livramento, able to play both fullback positions, very young, if there's 1 player at Newcastle I'd like it's him although the injuries are a red flag.
 
If Newcastle Are selling, I think Bruno is in demand. But They have more cover for Gordon, like Barnes.

Let me just add nuance to that.

I think he’s a good, exciting young player that could be excellent for us.

I think his diving and antics are pure shitehouse.

None of those, or even the more heinous crime of being, let’s call it semi-ginger, are enough to stop me wanting us to buy him.

£100m is the problem.

Unless Barca are paying £100m for Diaz… then I’m all for it.

Depends on Newcastle really. By all accounts they need to sell some high value asset. Minteh has had a great season for feyenoord, so they may be more willing to let Gordon go for less than a kings ransom, than letting Bruno g go.
 
I’m confused by the reports of them considering selling Bruno - a player like him is far harder to replace than a winger. Everything they do is built around Bruno, he’s the last player they should sell.

Objectively yes: Diaz has 8 goals and 5 assists in the league, Gordon 11 and 10 and he can still improve. Gordon seems to fit the mould of a Slot winger as far as I can tell - a wing-forward who will constantly run at their full-back and progress the attack. Then Salah can play more inside as more of a playmaker-forward.

Agree in principle, but in practice there's also the question of which Newcastle player(s) the market actually wants. Besides, if one of the big Spanish clubs came in for Bruno he might decide he wants to go, in which case they won't get the best out of him if they don't let it happen.

90M feels really steep. Is that the going rate for a promising winger now? I think 70M or so would be fair. People thought Newcastle overpaid for him at 45M just a year ago.

The question is, even if we get say 70m for Diaz....why would you then think of Gordon to spunk that load on? If the links weren't there, would anyone mention his name?

I don’t go out digging up random names for us to sign. I just react to the links. I’ve got better things to do. Like drink this pint in the train station because I missed my train. I’ll read a book rather than search for a left winger.

Diaz is a decent player, but 5 big chances created for someone who played for the whole season as a startng wing-forward for a title contender is pitiful. Really unacceptable.

All 3 Seasons with us. The amount of crosses is frankly, shocking.
