We have 2 crocked CBs, and 2 semi-fit CBs ... Any chance we can recall Ilori?

Maybe his chance to prove if he can make it, or not.

Supposedly talented youngster who is behind the pecking order of our resident senior citizen, Toure.

The fact that we haven't seen him, when some of the younger players have made their cameos, tells alot.

Hope he can make it mind, young, foreign and with an exotic name. What's not to like.

Born in England you know.

He's at Aston Villa on loan mate.

If he can't get a game in a shocking Villa side, I doubt he's any good.

He's been injured. He looked excellent on loan last year and at International level, too good for the reserves but injury has held him back.

Villa isn't playing even close the system or way we play. A central defender could be average in one system and excellent in another. Klopp wanted to sign him before we signed him so he propably fit the way we play, the Klopp way.

Wasn't it claimed that Klopp wanted to sign Benteke?

Isn't it easy to take a glass half empty view of everything?

"He must be shit", "we'll get beat". Pull yourself together Mors x

He seemed to be getting good reports and I know he had some top games for the u21's too bad he's another who is made of glass..

It's not a glass half empty, it's a just looking at it logically view - he's never been given a shot here, never been given a shot at the villa, all under several managers. And was palmed out to villa with a low buy at the end of the season clause so the club can't rate him that highly.
If you've seen something that several managers and the club haven't seen then fair play to you. I'm not taking the piss, just saying I can't see why people would rate him so highly.

Maybe. But managers get criticised for throwing young players into a relegation fight.

Garde's job is probably already under question, he can easily justify playing the more obvious established player. Even if they are shit.

Daniel Cleary is probably the only viable option from among the youngsters at this moment. He's due to be fit again by later this week. The first teamers can be re-shuffled a bit, but that won't provide height in defence against Exeter. Cleary is certainly a player who'll provide that, along with good ability on the ball, a good work rate and a decent temperament. It will always be a gamble, of course, but in these exceptional circumstances I wouldn't be surprised if he's added to the bench, at least.

Alexander-Arnold? Yes, but that would really be pushing it. He's even younger and less experienced, and he's similar to Can in the sense that he's a midfielder sometimes being used in defence.

Didn't realise he was a midfielder. I think I've only seen him play once against Swindon and he looked quite capable after a dodgy first 20 minutes.

Benteke was the perfect fit for a shit Villa. So I hope that Ilori can be a good fit with us as he doesnt fit with a shit Villa...

Ilori may be a talented player but he seems horribly injury prone. Might be worth a chance if he gets sent back from Villa but I doubt he's the answer.

I think he's got more chance throwing caution to the wind, cliche alert, and bringing in one or two younger players, because he needs to show that he can revitalise the team and develop new players, and is the right man to lead them back into the Premiership.

Simply playing the same players and then doing several Gallic shrugs as they get relegated is hardly going to make the Villa fans and board confident about him next season.

Unless he doesn't want the job
