Is 15 goals in 57 starts true for Petrov? If so that's quite a good return for an oft-injured striker. Our strikers struggle to do better than that.

Our left flank needs major surgery and I don't really like the idea of buying yet more injury prone squad filler that we more than likely won't be able to rely on.
It all depends on how much money we have and what's going to happen with players like Riera and Babel for me. If we've got absolutely nothing to spend on the LW position then yeah Petrov might be worth a gamble... that is, if he's still got his pace, otherwise it's a complete waste of time.

I agree with you but I'm assuming we won't have much to spend. If we can flog Riera and Babel for cash, sign Petrov on a free, use the cash to upgrade leftback/striker/right mid/young reserve goalkeeper (choose one; please catch sarcasm attendent to young reserve goalkeeper) or offer Lucas an improved contract I think it would be a decent play.
One of my biggest criticisms of Rafa is that he sold average players and paid to replace them with average players. If we sell an average player and replace him with one who is free, that's a kind of improvement... I think.
