Anyone fancy Diego Perotti for the left wing spot?

He plays for Sevilla. I'm not sure if he is in the final Argentina Squad.

Inter's new era under Rafa Benitez will start with a bid for Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Benitez had a long conversation with Inter's technical director Marco Branca yesterday and is expected to iron out the terms of his contract today.

During that conversation, they reportedly spoke about Inter's transfer strategy this summer, which looks almost certain to include a bid for Mascherano.

The Nerazzurri have been looking to bulk up in midfield, but only managed to sign McDonald Mariga in January as a future prospect.

Mascherano is being valued at around €25m and Inter hope to persuade Liverpool into parting with him by offering Sulley Muntari in exchange plus a lump sum.

After Marko Arnautovic's departure, Inter are also looking for a new striker, prompting them to give serious consideration to a bid for Palermo's Edinson Cavani.

Branca is keen to offer Victor Obinna and Rene Krhin in exchange to get the 23-year-old's price down to a reasonable level.

I'm not sure what the exchange rate is, but we should be looking to get upwards of £27M.

If Rafa was happy to pay £20m for Aquilani, then he can add on another €15m to that figure being mentioned for Mascher.

Fiorentina Eye Liverpool Left-Back Emiliano Insua
By Luis Mira

Fiorentina are interested in the captures of Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insua and Napoli central defender Fabiano Santacroce, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Florence-based side are keen to invest big in the market following a frustrating season in which they finished halfway down the Serie A table.

After signing Gaetano D'Agostino from Udinese in a co-ownership deal last week, the Viola are now looking to solve their defensive woes, having already identified their targets.

Insua, 21, has been at Anfield since 2007, and his playing chances have often come knocking due to Fabio Aurelio's fitness problems.

With the Brazilian defender set to the leave Liverpool, the Reds are understood to be looking for a new left-sided defendeer, which would drop Insua down the pecking order at the club.

Santacroce, often labelled as the 'new Alessandro Nesta', has been with Napoli since joining from Brescia in 2008, and has formed an interesting defensive trio with Paolo Cannavaro and Matteo Contini at the San Paolo.

Yeah, it would be nice to play with eleven men for a change.

Not sure where to put this;

Albert Riera has finally broken his silence on Rafael Benitez's departure, hailing it as the re-opening of the door to his Anfield career.

Speaking in his native Spain, the disgraced Liverpool winger has hit back following his banishment by the former Kop boss in April for publicly slamming Benitez's managerial style and brandishing the club as a "sinking ship".

Riera was transfer-listed but failed to secure a move to Russia before the season ended, which cost him a place in Vicente del Bosque's squad for this summer's World Cup.

But the 28-year-old has spoken of his joy of the dismissal of the man who brought him to Anfield less than two years ago and believes that he may now have a future at the club with the opportunity of a fresh start under a new manager.

He said: "On a personal level, I benefit from his departure. I was looking around for other options for the past couple of months. It was a closed door for me but now it is open once again.

"For now I'm staying but we know that unexpected things can happen in football. The good thing is that I still attract interest and I'm sure the price wouldn't be a problem

"It's a pity because under normal circumstances I could've been in the squad, a World Cup is the biggest event in a footballer's career".

Freebies for the Squad????

Petrov, Sylvinho and Benjani to leave Man City

Petrov was hit by a number of injuries during his time at Eastlands
Manchester City trio Martin Petrov, Sylvinho and Benjani will all leave the Premier League club this summer.

Injury-hampered Bulgarian winger Petrov, 31, was signed by then manager Sven-Goran Eriksson in 2007 but only managed 57 starts, scoring 15 goals.

Brazilian defender Sylvinho, 35, signed on a one-year contract last August but only made nine starts.

Benjani, 31, who arrived in 2008, scored the winner on his debut in a 2-1 away derby win over Manchester United.

But the Zimbabwe captain failed to impress manager Roberto Mancini and spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland

------------------------------------

Benjani to replace Ngog, Petrov to replace Riera.

They are free???????

Martin Petrov 's been released from Man City. I'd sign him up to warm the bench and do some super sub action.

Re: Freebies for the Squad????

ha desperate times Fella. We are skint remember

Maybe if we get roy he can bring spud back for the squad

Re: Freebies for the Squad????

Petrov wouldn't be a bad addition however with regards to Benjani, I'd rather we start giving opportunities to lads like Nemeth, Dalla Valle and Pacheco.

Re: Freebies for the Squad????

Yeah, Petrov would be worth a punt. Maybe our Aussie doc can get him sorted?
