What kind of idiot starts a boring shit topic like this.Where's the B.
Or alternatively, give your opinion without resorting to calling people "idiots".
The fact that it comes from Jason makes it even more insulting.

He was making reference to the fact he started the same topic.

Ah. I take it back then

Players blaming the ball for poor performance or control are making excuses. A ball is just a ball. Having watched so many games, I've see nothing that suggests that the ball behaves any differently than other balls used.

Ever play on the beach, backyard or street with a plastic ball? Within 10 minutes you get used to the bounce and feel. To suggest that the ball is ruining the WC is idiotic. Its the uninspiring football on display bar Argentina and Germany thus far!

I have no problem at all with germany's 'unfair advantage'. The premier league probably makes a small fortune using a nike ball, whereas the germans had took advantage of an opportunity.

Iniesta Alonso Villa all just ballooned the fecking gonad how much more proof do you want.

now add Torres.

Yea, I've never seen Alonso sky one and then make the "I normally do better" twitchy face.

Fuck me he just rocketed one off the bar.

So what's the excuse for Xabi hitting the bar? Torres skying the ball and the ball gets blamed? WTF

Jason, you're a joker!

Jason, you're a sport. Now sit down and have a drink!
Oh ok.

Oncey, the one they use and Matt's £20 copy ball is totally different. Just like your CL final ball, thats £60 ball there, and is totally different to the budget version i'd buy.

Having played with a few of the real footy's the Pro's use, they are indeed much lighter than the others and fly when you smack it.
Nah Matt said it was the match ball. It doesn't really matter anyway, I'm sick moaning about it. I'm just hoping they get used to it quickly.

The ball looks all right to me. I've just seen Forlan ping it 50 metres straight into a team mate, and just prior to that he took the perfect penalty.

It looks like the technique is to stroke the ball rather than try to lash it, those trying to smash the ball are the ones with their shots balooning over the bar etc.

I did see the ball suddenly take off at a certain point in mid flight from a Xavi corner today. I replayed it just to be sure. there is clearly something awry but I don't think its the reason for the shitty start. I think that there is just clearly less of a gap between the better teams and the lesser teams right now with the lesser teams being willing and organized defenders. I hope we some better performances this time around though.

BBC showed how the ball was behaving in the air and it certainly is moving about all over the place.

Also, there's some very experienced men managing some of the smaller countries this year too, which is part of the reason why nobody is rolling over and getting thrashed.

It has to be much much lighter. I haven't played with it myself but the amount of overhit corners for example speaks for itself.

3,000 Nike footballs it took to make this. It's in Johannesburg.

egular balls are made with 32 hexagonal panels. The Teamgeist for World Cup in Germany 2006 had only 14 panels. The Jabilani ball has an amazing 8 panels.
Goalies will be happy with the 'grip n groove' texturing, which is also to aid smooth flight (think golfballs).
It is a heavy ball, and has bonded 3d panels - moulded spherically to retain shape and create a seamless spehere.
The number 11 carries heavy symbolism - the tribes of South Africa, the players in a football team. In honour ofthis, there are 11 colours used on the ball.

FIFA Standards / Jabulani Ball Stats
Feature FIFA Reg. Jabulini Standing
Weight 420-445 440/td> Heavy
Circumference 68.5-69.5cm 69.0 +/- 0.2 Average
Roundness 1.5% Variance 1.0% Good
Water Absorption Max 10% 0% Amazing
Bounce Variance 10cm 6cm Good
Leakage 20% from 3 days 10% Excellent
This table shows that the moulding technique means the ball retains its shape, and the lack of seaming means there is essentially zero water retention, which will reduce sluggishness of the ball if South Africa defies the odds and rains throughout the World Cup
The weight is interesting - being towards the higher end of the allowed scale means the flight will be truer and more predictable making keepers happy, but also rewarding accuracy for strikers.
