Keeping Up With the Jones

@darkstarexodus - that tweet you posted...

1) If Curtis did become the best player in the world by eye test alone - I can only see myself and @Woland (and also Steven Gerard) acknowledging this fact. I think the top reds will just shy away from acknowledging this - even if they are scousers. Curtis just is a little too much about backing himself for their liking.

2) As there is so much Scouse hate across England - they may just vote for Curtis to win over Salah/VVD just to piss off Liverpool supporters.

Who's this French kid 'Gerard' you talk of?

I have been one of CJ's biggest critic but I have admitted I was wrong about him.
Under Slot he seems to have gone up a few levels, he and others have all said the way they get trained by Slot has opened their eyes.

Is his pass rate so high because he hangs on to it for so long the only passes left are easy short ones back to the CBs????

Before you start sticking pins in a StevieM shaped doll @moron …. I’m joking!!!!

I'm just not seeing (bar maybe an extra km or 2) what szob offers over Jones. That midfield last night was exceptionally balanced

Yep, easily the one with the most technical ability too. There will be games where we need extra athleticism and that’s where Szobo comes in and games where we need extra guile and that’s where the boy comes in.

Yesterday’s would be my default

I love him at AM, don't love him in that double pivot. I think he is excelling after a run of games too.

He did keep it a little too long and lost it couple of times last night but at times his play was gorgeous.

Curtis Jones (93.1%) had the best passing accuracy of any midfielder or forward to start the Liverpool vs Real Madrid game.

I think there was another moment in the box where he needed to react half a second quicker and we’d have had a goal scoring opportunity. It was at 1-0 so didn’t really impact the game. That is me being hyper critical of it though.

Yep, great stats but still room for improvements at key parts. I enjoy watching him but he can be improve and get better if he wants it. He can be a world class midfielder if he wahts it. He did get dispossed couple of times in our own half.

There was a stat on another channel that says he has the highest passing accuracy of any midfielder in the WORLD.
Of course the majority on here hate him so I expect every ounce of anything he has done bad to be put forward above anything else.

Understand this - the best midfielder in the game yesterday up to the point when he had to retire from the game was actually Camavinga - if we could get a player of his profile into our team to support the players we already have - that would be ideal, and make us unstoppable. However, Camavinga was injured because of chasing Curtis around that last spin to get away from him that Curtis did was all he (Camavinga) could take - Jones was too much for his body to handle in the end.

Curtis Jones - is the best midfielder on the planet, and his stock will only rise. Don't be surprised in 18 months time when Madrid/Barca make a huge bid for him.

No one hates him, he’s had 2 break out seasons and not progressed. If he can remain injury free, this could be the one.

Agree that Camavinga was superb until he was injured, which I think was the nail in the coffin for Real.

I think people can't see what's in front of their face with Cujo. It's like he's a local lad who cost fuck all, and there's all this doubt with such players if they can 'make it'. He's been miles more effective than Slobby this season and there's still half the site wants to play Slobby ahread of him because he runs around a lot. Well Jones also runs around a lot but he seems to be far far more progressive than Slobby right now. Play him ffs!

I stormed over to the MOTM thread because I swore you didn't have him in your top 3, but I see you've edited it. Good man.
