There's talk of him leaving Arsenal this summer - one year left on his contract. Would you take him?

Walcott's a player that really devides opinion, but i'd defo llike to see him at LFC. He's been linked with Chelsea so it'll probably be tough to get him if he does leave Arsenal but who knows, he's a Liverpool fan as well.

He has two real attribues - pace and he can finish. Needs to work on his final ball but he's still only 23 and you'd imagine working with Rodgers would see him improve.

I'm really not a Walcott fan.

Really good footballers, top footballers have many great attributes. Walcott has one, pace.

Take that away from him, and he's a League 2 player.

Each to their own. I think his finishing is really under-rated as well, he's usually composed when one on one with the keeper.

Stating the obvious but he needs to be more consistent but a new challenge away from Arsenal might bring the best out in him.
He's been there for about 5 years and hasn't really kicked on as much as everyone expected.

Yep spot on.
He has pace to burn but he is so thick he doesn't even know how to use it.
If Arsenal have given up hope on him then I can't find a single reason why we should take him.

Walcott reminds me of my childhood days playing club football.

Walcott was that one guy in your Under 12 team who couldn't really dribble, couldn't really shoot, was ridiculously one-footed ... but he was 100x faster than anyone else on the team ... and he'd be put on the wing and the instructions by your coach would be "hit it down the line to Walcott".

Walcott would then get the ball and his cross would go out for a goal kick.

Then all the fucking parents would applaud him because of his pace, nevermind the fact he fucked up in the end.

wasn't there talk that Dalglish was in for him this summer before he got the boot ?

Wasn't he a striker , well forward , before Wenger pushed him out on the wing ? Wonder what he'd be like up top .

He certainly didn't make the leap forward that many expected about 2 years ago but he's well ahead of any players that fit your description above.

He looked much better last season IMO; whether he's going to continue that improvement or not I don't know but he did pretty well in the Euro's and would certainly provide a better option than a number of our squad. 11 goals (1 in 3) and 13 assists last season is really not that woeful IMO.

I'd definitely pay Downing type money for Walcott.

You'd fit the mould of typical English manager/supporter/media type/fanboy perfectly in that case; by paying completely over the odds for a limited, unproven English player then.

Well truth is I don't think he ever fit in to the Arsenal team. He also wouldn't for Brendan Rodgers team so I take back my statement. But we both know that football is played in many different styles. With that type of return you can't tell me he wouldn't fit into counter attacking sides.

For 20M you'd want to be getting someone who "fitted into your side" mate, otherwise what's the point?

I thought he'd be perfect for how sinclair and dyer played at swansea

But he is overrated and overpriced so...... No

24 goals and 22 assists in the last 2 years isnt exactly average is it?

He was very good for large parts of last season, but his main issue is obvsiously still consistency. 23 years of age and really needs a change of scenary to develop further.

His pace is obvs one of the reasons I'd take a chance on him. We're the slowest team at the top half of the table and really need to adress it.
For the right price I'd sign him. 12-14 mill.

I like the logic and the stats are impressive.... But still no

We could get someone better for that money who's more creative, which is what we need imho. Kalou would get us a similar return for a fuck load less

He's 23, been with Arsenal 5 years (that's a guess) and isn't a nailed on first choice player.

Too much of his good work (goals and assists) are done when coming on as a sub against tired, shit teams. Not saying there's anything wrong with junk time goals, and that he's completely incapable - but for 20M I'd be looking for something representing more value than that.

^^^^ yup

He started 41 games and was a sub in 5 games last season.
Did you watch him at all last season Ryan? Doesnt look that way by your posts.

Ha. If he played for some garbage italian side and was a child of Tito youd be all over it..

£10m and you would have to be in for him, any more and it starts to become risky

I'd pay 8 maximum.

Vast potential but he's at the age now where the potential will forever be that

Look around, sooner or later the hamstrings are going to go snap. Then you'll be left with a slow wide man, whos crosses dont beat the first man, cant beat a player and doesnt have a anything else to his game.

Moneys better spent elsewhere.

This is a tricky one for me and i change my mind on him as a player on a regular basis.

I wouldn't really argue with what a lot of posters on here have criticized him for tbh, but then i see him have one of his good games (+plus take his age into consideration) and i end up thinking he could finish up a very good player indeed.

I guess the price would have to right in order for him to be worth the punt.

One other little positive............he's a Liverpool fan!

I wasn't aware that a price had been laid out for him in order for us to claim he's over priced.

How much did Mata go to the Chavs for? I don't know but I know he got 6 goals last season and 16 assists so not as much end product as Theo in a team which really played to his strengths whereas Arsenal don't with Walcott.

I realize there's a fair bit more to be looked at than simply those stats when determining the worth of a player but if Hazard gets 11 goals and 13 assists next season I'll lay money that people will conclude he's the real deal.

Walcott suffers on here because he's english rather than the reverse.

I can't even remember how much Downing cost now; I suspect Modo has it tatooed on his left and right buttock but I'm not sure. If Walcott came in for 12m it'd be a good piece of business - for us and the player.

You're right, he's not a £20m player, but he did improve significantly last season and look alot more consistent, for probably the first time since joining Arsenal. I'd have him, but at a reasonable price, which you'd have to surmise would never happen.

Spurs are in for him anyway.

He's a better version of Aaron Lennon and could be a valuable squad player but, as has been mentioned by others, his current value would be about £10m but Arsenal would probably want twice that.

You're right Wiz. If Arsenal were to lose both RVP and Walcott this summer, they would be in big trouble. They were there two best players last season.

Actually I would quite like a player who could "come on as a sub, and score against tired, shit teams".

Certainly would have been good to have one last season
