The resurrection of Stewart Downing

I do remember a person called Glock on here but those that no me well will know that I am NOT Glock. I am Moron, and unlike some on here I don't go around insulting people although I like to think I know my football but doesn't everyone on here ?

I think the reason I'm a relatively succesful gambler on football is that I tend not to agree very often with "the masses" and my "hunches" have been known to pay off.

I've said all along that I COULD be wrong about Lucas and that I hope I am. I've also said that he's a better player than he was and that I'm very happy with him in our squad. What I don't understand (yet) is the high regard in which he's held by the majority, I haven't witnessed him justifying his superstar status.

The Downing thing is just guesswork, I saw him at Middlesbro regularly and I was unimpressed BUT I did see enough to think that if he ever played in the right team and the right style of play he had enough quality to possibly become a good player.

Without making you too big headed (or should that be even more big-headed) you are right more often than not (and a lot more often than most posters on here) on your judgement on players and because there are a few such posters on here who disagree with my Lucas viewpoint I have come to terms with the fact I may be wrong about him BUT I'm not changing my mind until I can see it with my own eyes.

Hey.... Just a thought... In order to resurrect Stewie...., don't we have to kill him first.

I'm all for cracking on with the first part and letting budgetary constraints take their natural course in the second part.

Downing will obv do better than he did last season. The only way is up for Stu. That United game as Ryan also mentioned above was embarrassing. He was hiding behind players and simply didn't want the ball. Hopefully Rodger's will ban him from attempting a fruitless give and go with Enrique that Downing persisted with last season. How many times did we see him give it to Enrique only to dart forward and run into the full back? Use some game intelligence for god sake (because I think he has some) and create an angle so you can receive the ball back. Not barge into the defender or hope Enrique can dink the killer ball to you time and time again.

I do feel a tiny bit sorry for Downing though. Just a tiny bit mind. I remember him cracking the cross bar in the season opener and thinking maybe we do have a better player than we first thought. That near miss continued to haunt him and towards the end of the season he even spurned a pity penalty. Nothing could right for unlucky Stu. Perhaps he should just touch the fucking sign eh?
