Probably a bit early to say without knowing: the formation Klopp wants to play and what roles comprise the midfield; final squad for 2016/7; quality of new recruits like Grujic.

And do you consider players like Lallana and Mane to be in the midfield?

Depends on the formation. Using friendlies as an indicator, we will probably play a lone striker with two advanced wing forwards and three in midfield.

The players who seem most at risk, regardless of formation would be:

Lucas, Markovic, Allen.

Now those three didn't play much (or at all) last season anyway, and that won't improve, and it seems likely that one, two or even hopefully all three, will leave the club this summer.

But of more regular starters, Mane will occupy one position, which makes Lallana (especially) and maybe Firmino less likely to start than before, but players like Henderson and Milner will also have to be at the top of their games, depending on Grujic and maybe Wijnaldum.

I think it will be this:

Holding mid: Can/Stewart
Second mid: Henderson/Grujic/Allen
Third/roving mid: Milner/Wijnaldum

LW: Coutinho/Wijnaldum/Markovic
RW: Lallana/Mane

I don't expect Ejaria and Brannagan to feature a lot unless Allen leaves.

Think there's definitely a lack of quality in the deeper midfield positions. Hopefully Grujic turns out to be a find.

Yep, anything in between strikers and defenders is MF.

Positioning isn't Henderson's forte imo.
He can do a job at DM, but he needs to adapt.
Can would be my pick but he's got the same problem, although his pace and tenacity kinda makes up for his positioning.

I'm not so sure we'll see Stewart as much as we did last season.

Milner will be safe due to versatility.

If Georginio signs I reckon Our MF and Fwd line up will be,

Wijnaldum Can. Coutinho

Mane Sturridge Firmino

Or that six with Coutinho further forward with mane and Firmino behind Sturridge

Some need to go, that's for sure. And I'd rather lose Hendo than Allen, if Allen was to be used properly - I think he plays better a little further forward.
I'd bin Lucas, Hendo, Markovic. But I don't think the first two are going anywhere due to 'versatility' (not being good at anything but can be average everywhere).

We are not going to play a dedicated DM. I'm sure even Klopp has said this ?

Either two CMs in front of the back four with licence to go forward if the other stays back, or a midfield three (more likely) ? Unless Coutinho or Firmino drop back as the point of those three then it will be between Can / Grujic / Milner / Henderson / Wijnaldum. Though Chilean papers are saying we are after Gary Medal too.

Think dahoud was the holding player, jk wanted, who can put foot in and make a pass similar to a Alonso.

Dahoud is not a holding player – he is the one who very much likes to roam and create chances and has great energy for pressing. He is not physically strong enough to be a DM. Xhaka was the holding player in Gladbach.
