The Italian stallion

I hope Chiesa gets another season/pre-season, etc, but not if it's another rinse and repeat of this year. He does have something to offer and, personally, I don't think it's a case of an Italian not able to adapt to the English game or culture. The party line is it all keeps coming back to fitness, albeit it's starting to become a little hard to believe. My fear is Slot just went along with the signing because a) he's new and b) it was right at the end of the window. If any of that is true then the club need to move him on this window.

For what it's worth, Chiesa does still look genuinely happy to be here, seems a good egg, and his agent shut down any exit rumours. I think that Slot hasn't used him more has started to bite him in the arse in the last few weeks as the attack has been consistently misfiring.

What I don't like is Slot's excuse for not playing him.
Says that Chiesa's limited playtime is due to the team's packed schedule, which means that he can't train with the main squad.

That's the biggest load of shite I've ever heard. How will you ever catch up with that reasoning?

How many times during the season could Slot have subbed off Salah with 15-20 mins left in order to give Chiesa some minutes?

How many times has Slot not even used the 5th sub during the game?

I really don't like this stubborn, cuntish side of him at all and I'm happy Chiesa scored and made him look like a fool.

So let's see now, Chiesa will have had three weeks of training under his belt before the Everton game. Probably one or two behind closed doors friendlies.

What will Slot's next excuse be?

Yeah I heard that excuse and couldn't understand it at all. It's ridiculous. By that logic how can any player even come back from injury and be reintegrated?

He clearly just doesn't rate him at all.

I think it's more that he took one look at his wife and aside from being repulsed, decided that his judgement is totally compromised and he can't be trusted not only as a player but as a man.

Genuinely think having Elliott at RW and having Salah/Chiesa rotating through the middle and we'd see an improvement, though I suspect we'll see a return to Diaz through the middle and Gakpo back at LW. There is a danger of thinking the the absent man is the answer to problems, but at the same time we have little to lose and turning up the chance to play a player who consistently puts himself in decent positions and can well placed shots off with either foot feels foolish.

I can put the midfield down to tired legs and minds, but the current attacking performances need some more radical changes, IMHO, especially through the middle. Diaz gives you legs and energy through the middle, and it might lead to some net improvements as a unit, but he can only finish one week of the month. Jota needs to make some impactful sub appearances to state a claim again, and I can't be arsed thinking or talking about Nunez.

I'm sure we can all agree that Gakpo coming back in and quickly getting some goals from LW will be a welcome papering over of the cracks until the summer.

Injured boy goes from medical ward to the bench of LFC, enjoying the company of great players. Comes off the bench in a final and even scores a goal, but alas not enough to win the cup. But will be there to experience the title run in first hand.

Fairy tale make-a-wish foundation stuff for the young one

It’s was always Slots plan to wait until we’d gone out of all the domestic cups & Europe and secured the Premier League before he unleashes Cheesie for the run in.

He played on the left just as much as on the right in Italy. It's been very much the clubs decision to make him a Mo Salah understudy.

Yeah but come on ... we've got Gakpo, Diaz, Nunez and Jota who can all play on the left. Clearly he was meant to back up Mo.

He was, but the point is Chiesa is experienced enough to have played LW if Slot wanted. In Italy he's largely regarded as a forward that can play both positions equally well as he's two-footed. When Gakpo & Jota are injured, Nunez is crap and Slot hasn't played him on the left all year, and Diaz has been rotating between positions and generally unproductive and inconsistent, it's been Slots choice to only use Chiesa (incredibly sparingly) in the RW role. It's all moot really because Slot also feels Chiesa has the body and fitness of a Darts player.

I wasn’t aware of Chiesa’s Argentinian heritage?
