Bernstein approached West Brom on Saturday and was given permission to speak to Hodgson, who is likely to be appointed on a long-term basis.
It is expected any contract will cover the three tournaments up to and including Euro 2016, at which point he will be two months short of his 69th birthday.

Yes, the press will bleat on about how he wasn't given a fair crack at Liverpool etc. etc.

Having had 3 English Grandparents I've always been quite pro-English in the sporting arena and only "hate" them when they play Ireland. But however pleased I am when England win something I'm still able to enjoy England teams shooting themselves in the foot and this is a classic case.

McLaren, Capello, Pearce, Sven, Keegan, Taylor.........an unenviable list of abject failures BUT the main issue is that most of these were the wrong choice in the eyes of the average England football fan when they were appointed but the clueless eejits at FA went ahead.

Of the last 10 manager England have appointed I only predicted 2 of them would be succesful Venables & Hoddle (although I was 50/50 about Capello's* chances) the rest were obvious rejects.

IMO Redknapp would have a similar affect to Venables and Hodgson will have the same affect as Graham Taylor. The FA have been a laughing stock for decades now and there's no sign of things improving.

* Even though I thought Capello had a chance of success I still didn't think he should have got the gig because England should always have an English manager.

This, right here, is the problem.

How many of those players will realistically be around for the world cup?

The Germans always play a younger side than us & it pays dividends. We have good young players but they're never given chance as a group with one or two older players, IMO they should be.
 
This sounds short term, like the FA don't give a fuck about the Euro's. I doubt he'll be manager beyond then.

The FA suck balls, they're corrupt and continuously show they don't give a fuck about being serious regarding the National team. Either that or they're all just thick.

If they were looking for a short term manager with good cup pedigree, there's one out of work right now who'd work wonders.

to sign an aged cuntchesky he binned off a couple of our young players. I fucking HATE him.

That is true. The Germans had a very young team at the last world cup didn't they? They played some great football. I can't see the current England team beating the Germans.

The current England team is pretty much the same team Germany demolished in Africa.
Problem is the England players are two years older and the German players have gained two more years of experience. If you catch my drift....

Ever since the year England beat Germany 5-0, Germany had completely rebuilt while England had gone on another great hype journey!
 
I think I'm going to support teams with past associations with liverpool, either the czechs (vlad, paddy, milan) or spain (alonso, arbeloa, garcia). not supporting england, they can fuck off. I hope roy feels hurt by getting sacked by liverpool so refuses to play liverpool players (gerrard, johnson). FUCK england.

I hope Roy remembers how much he doesn't like GlenJo & drops him from the team, I hope Gerrard's hint that he'll retire from the int'l setup after this tournament's true as well. I'll be glad if all these two have to focus on is Liverpool.

He can have & play Downing, he'll probably fit into his counter-attacking style anyway.

I don't think England will get out of their group. And that would be irrespective of Woy getting the job. The players aren't up to it so why pay a fortune for a bloke.
 
Isn't England's next game in Norway?

If Woy is true to his word from that press conference then he couldn't take the job purely on that basis!!
 
To be fair Roy does have the pedigree for the job. He has shown in the past that he can take shit international teams to the quarter finals
 
I feel as dissapointed as an England fan as i was as a Liverpool fan when we appointed him.... really... what the fuck is that for a decision??

If the extent of your passion and ambition and vision for the game is Roy hodgson then we truly are fucking done...Fuck the national team.

On the bright side at least Spurs have gone into a tailspin for no reason whatsoever...

Oh and this was quite good in the papers
