The case for keeping 35Million Carroll

18 starts plus 2 as sub = 6 goals and 2 assists

He's English and he's got past performance so we should get a decent wedge from someone that is willing to play to his strengths ... Stoke, WHU, Fulham etc

In light of Suarez's ban is the original question I posed now more relevant? I'm sure my point about maybe keeping Carroll is a little galling to some given the love for Suarez - But it surely has to be considered. It's not ideal but it is a means to an end ultimately.

Not really.I still say if we can't sell him then only put him out until the last two months of the season when he is good , but straight back from holiday? No.

Unless we can sell and replace him with someone decent, do not sell - we need to have at least 3 strikers next year (Borini, Sturridge & him).

I'm not Carroll's biggest fan I assure you. I just can see how in light of the Suarez ban he might prove to be a good option (to explore at the very least)

He'll be trying to run off the beers and pies consumed at Barbados and Ibiza during those 6 games Luis is suspended.

But chances are he will be shite for the first couple of months anyway. Fuck him off and get someone in who can perform immediately. I suggest Wilfried Bony.

Whenever you say sign Wilfried Bony I think of 'Billy The Kid' - Damn my knowledge of late 19th century cowboys.

Why would Carroll be shite at the start of the season? Hopefully he'll start the season

A) Not injured
B) Have a good pre season behind him
C) LFC ban him from going to Ibiza et al.
D) He'll be motivated to succeed.

Maybe.... 😉

I love William H.Bonney myself. He is possibly my favourite cowboy.
Carroll is more Billy The Fish. As in his drinking. And about as much use on a fitness bike.

Just scored another against Citeh - 6 Goals and 3 assists in his last 10 games. Just saying. Fuck it - Whatever you chumps (@Ryan) thinks he's earning me a bag full of points on FF. 😉

Bony has 30 goals this season in 27 games.
Suarez and Van Persie also came from the Eredivisie.
Carroll also looks like Billy The Fish by the way
Billy The Kid said he shot 12 but really he shot about 6. 😉

Regarding Carroll - He was fucking immense today.

I thought it was an impressive performance by Carroll against Man City. There's a lot more to his game than heading the ball in. His passing and distribution were excellent, I don't remember him giving the ball away once.

Finally! Someone who agrees with me. Me and you @Portly against them all.

Bony has a good allround game but also scores goals and is fit to play. Andy Carroll does not even have a cowboy name.

At the very least,we could keep him until the transfer deadline and have cover for some of Luis's suspension.

West Ham will buy him. 15-17 million I reckon. Fat Sam is just blowing bum smoke to try and drive down the price. He's perfect for them.

Is he looking alot leaner and faster on his feet than when he was with us ? If so is that just because he's now getting a run of games or because West ham have changed his training plan ( wasn't he on some muscle building plan with us ? )

I think so too. I'd be made up if we got anything like that however. It seems more likely that they'll negotiate the price down to something closer to 10M. I hope we don't give in and insist on a high fee.

I agree he is more than just a big lump up front.

If they can give us Diame in part exchange, I'd even settle for 8m.
No way is Diame worth 9 million then according to the logic price of Carrol is 17 million.
We should stand firm, we shouldn't appear to sell a 23 yr old English striker on the cheap good form with ability to do a lot more than he has credit for.
I know LFC should back the manager but I really think the lad deserves a go, if players like Downing can be a given another chance then why not. He's more than a big lump up front...
