The case for keeping 35Million Carroll

Er, why?

And, surely, if the agent was successful and renegotiated a big pay cut then Carroll won't be on a decent enough wage (when compared to other PL players)?

Don't take forums too seriously. I really couldn't give a fuck and have no delusions anything will ever happen like this.

Carroll is having a great 1st half for WH against Utd. absolutely bossing Ferdinand and Vidic. Look very strong defensively as well. Lots of good tracking back. He has been the best player on the pitch by a fair bit. 1-1 at the moment (Carroll grabbed the assist)

Ha Ha Carroll just steam rolled De Gea with a very funny and very late challenge. That was Demento's cue for him to go purple with rage at the HT time whistle. Good game this. 😀

POW!!!!

The West Ham defence is very solid these days. I am a particular fan of Collins who did a fantastic marking job on Suarez at Anfield recently.

Keep him! FFS. Its BR's arrogance and lack experience that is his folly. I feel I am right....

I am not - but thanks for playing. Don't get me wrong - I get your opinion. I am right though.

18 months of playing at Anfield, he scored in 1 league game in that time.

I'll go with my eyes and stats over your feelings and opinions, thanks.

Seriously? Those Melbourne waters have dulled your brain. Each to their own I guess. (I am right about Carroll being mint though) 😉

Don't fall victim to what experts call 'BigDunc Syndrome'; wanting to keep a player because he's a sabre-rattling insane maniac towards the opposition, rather than actually being any good at football.
It's quite common amongst fans of also-ran teams. We should endeavour to avoid it.

Ha! I've never heard that expression but that pretty much sums it up for me. It seems I'm now a smitten dullard.

Ever since watching Carroll for Newcastle I've been a bit of a fan. He did not have a great time for us that's for sure, but around May and the Euros last year he started to pick up his game again why I was sad to see him go out on loan. Livid by the fact no one else came in but that's a different story all together.

He is starting to find that form again after yet a long and somewhat difficult Season and I still wouldn't mind us having him around. He can become a great striker, and I don't think his critics on here are giving him a just judgement.

@Ryan
Carroll has got his obvious strengths despite not getting of to the best of starts with us, in a first Season with far to great expectations over his head because of that insane prize tag, a lot of turmoil in the club, etc. He has as much as anyone (Allen for instance) deserved a proper chance to redeem himself. He won't as Rodgers doesn't rate him but I am not convinced that's a clever move from the gaffer.

The issue will always be his price tag and his injury record. When he's at his best he's unplayable, but that's proving a bit too infrequent. I do think it's touch and go whether we should keep him, we might live to regret selling him, on the other hand now might be the last chance we have to get a decent fee.

I agree with that.

Maybe he wouldn't be injured all the time if he wasn't on the piss all the time and took the game seriously.

If that's too much to ask after a club has paid £35M more you then not only are you a shit footballer, you're also a shit person.

It was only a few weeks ago that many on here were saying we'd struggle to get even £10m for him, that's how poor (and injured tbf) he'd been. Even in a team he suits his good spells seem to be all too rare, and I genuinely don't think he could do a job in a more fluid side like ours. I've never really got the hype: he's just a big target man, who apparently has short spells of very good form. That's it.

Get as much as we can for him and let's move on.

@momoWASboss

Yes, I've seen him four times. Plenty of others I know have seen him more than that.

I don't been having a few drinks, I mean bleary eyed and barely able to walk. Every time. He's a mess, and doesn't deserve half the respect he receives on here. It's no wonder the club have bombed him out on loan.

Yeah.

If we don't get an offer that suits us we keep him. I wouldn't let him go if we have to subsidise his wages. A clean break plus 10m for us and I'd be happy.

West Ham can't afford him because of financial fair play according to Big Sam. I can't see a queue of suitors lining up unless we're letting him go cheap.
