THE ASHES

I reckon they might get over 200. Especially if they plunder some runs with this new ball. I'm going 215 all out.

Fuck but I hate Stuart Broad. Smarmy middle-England cunt. Remember the time he sledged Ganguly? He had only taken about 6 first class wickets at the time too. Then Ganguly smacked it over his head for 6 too and got into him big time. Gold.

59 off 98 balls.

England had about 4 runs off that amount if deliveries at the start of their second innings, so this is an impressive start from the Australians.

Hardly confident though, Watson looks like he's dying to give his wicket away.

That is a fucking joke and exactly what I've been on about for 3 days. That's Cowan and Watson now that have gone for shit umpires calls, meanwhile balls thumping straight into leg for Australia haven't been given.

Shit shit shit umpiring.

Nasser taking the piss out of Botham has been interrupted by a fall of a wicket.

Rodgers good knock comes to an end, out for 52 (Jimmy).

I'm getting a bit nervy here - This is so do-able for the Aussies. Fair play to them they have batted superbly. Swann has bowled poorly (albeit without much turn in the wicket) and the less said about Finn the better really.

I don't know what Ryan's on about. Both Cowan and Rogers were caught in totally uncontroversial circumstances. In Watson's case, the umpire decided the ball would have hit leg stump. The DRS replay showed the ball hitting leg stump. So it was good umpiring.

What a difference a wicket makes. Just one more before close please. :hungry:

Nice new smileys btw! 🥷

That last hour just shaded it for England but really what a test this has been. A proper classic imho. Both teams are still in it with day 5 all to play for.

I had a ticket for Thursday which fell through at the last minute - I would have loved to have been there for this classic.

That was twitchy bum time for long periods of todays play.

Broad bowled well all day long and got his rewards with the two crucial wickets.

At times this afternoon it looked nearly impossible to score runs.

Did anyone else hear Botham going on about how 70% of men are colour blind? Nasser cracked me up when he said we had a beautiful green sky over Trent Bridge.

I was amused when Botham expressed his wonderment and delight when he found out that Trent Bridge was sold out for the last day's play tomorrow. I think most of us knew the ground was sold out for all five days. 🙂

It sounded like Botham had already made plans for tomorrow, and they didn't involve being at the cricket.

I see that all five days of the Lords match are sold out as well.

This really could go either way. Exciting few hours in prospect. I wasn't too up for the Ashes, but this test has been a great advert. Come on England.

Look, England are gonna win here. Fairly easily too, I'd be happy for the Aussies - especially Agar - just to go out swinging. Oh, and for some decent umpiring.

I don't know why you think that. To me it's Australia's to lose. The ball is doing fuck all - There is nothing in the wicket and these can defo bat. A quick wicket might change that but almost an hour in and they both look comfortable.

Two reasons:

1 - I've watched Brad Haddin before.
2 - Give it 5-10 overs and this new ball will start swinging. Then you'll see Anderson.
