Suprising Stat of 2015

Because we have a great defence but just can't score goals. It's a problem everyone.

Someone had a go at Ming on Twitter and he responded with that stat...

Means nothing. He's not good enough.

Surprising? Didn't we normally amass to the team with highest points in a calendar year under Rafa? Too bad the season fucking starts in August and ends in May. These stats mean jack shit if there's no trophy lifted by the team.

If ever anybody needed proof that you cannot judge the ability of a player based on statistics then this is surely it. Mignolet is, for my money, the worst goalkeeper in the premier league top 10 sides and many of the teams 11 - 20 have better keepers too

Im just surprised its not DeGea given how often they draw nil all

So him keeping 16 clean sheets is not an ability?

He's not a bad keeper, let's be honest. As far as instinctive shot stopping goes, he's very good. His flaws simply refuse to be ironed out though, so in the longterm we must do better, but his cleansheets shed an interesting light on things. Given he's considered so "terrible" and we apparently can't defend.

Yup , he's decent. But no more than that.

Clearly you'd have to take into account the total amount of goals we concede as well - last season was 48. Which is clearly not great but our defence is a lot better this season thanks to Clyne and formerly Gomez. Moreno has improved too.

He's not very good. Full stop. Look at when that ball looped up into the air in front of him right at the death last night. He ran into Jermaine Defoe and fell over like a house of cards looking for a foul. How many of the other premiere league keepers would have done that? I mean, Jermaine Defoe, He's like 4 foot 2 inches or something and didn't even move. Mignolet ran into him instead of worrying about making sure he punched the ball clear.

There's no "full stop" about it. He's very good at some things as well as being poor at others. We should improve any position we can, and GK is no exception, but Klopp's said he can work with the guy and that's good enough to persuade me that a new keeper is not our top priority.

That's a bit myopic, completely ignoring the times he cleared the ball or collected it well, or the couple of good saves he made. He made a few top drawer saves against Leicester too. I'm not dressing him up as something he isn't, everyone knows what his shortcomings are, but saying he's definitively no good and siting one lapse as the reason why, is nonsense.

Your are missing the point here guys..

Our defence has been woeful at times, and not just mingolet.

To establish 16 clean sheets in the Calendar year, with the way or defence has been at times, is something of a masterstroke.

I think its been more a case of if we coneded 1 goal then one or two more would usually follow.
It was like that under Rodgers at least.
Either a clean sheet or more than 1 goal conceded.
