Fair point.

I think it's the wording shadow of his former self, If portrays him as less than an asset now, which he really isn't. It's possibly more my translation of the meaning than what you actually meant though.

Nah, when you consider how good his former self was then his shadow is still decent. I'm a huge Gerrard fan so wouldn't take unnecessary potshots (in fact I think I pulled someone up on it the other day on here).

If this poll was done 6 months or a year ago, it would be a landslide. Suarez is in the form of his life at the minute, so it's a little unfair on Gerrard to have the poll at this time.

Gerrard.
He is the best player we have ever had.
Suarez is more gifted with the ball at his feet no doubt, but as I have always ALWAYS said, a team of Gerrards beats a team of any other player we have ever had.
Gerrard at Right Back, at Centre Back, at DM at RM, at AM at CM at any position other than CF would be the better player.
Suarez is probably the most gifted player we have ever had (although Barnes and Kenny might have something to say) but Gerrard is the most complete player we have ever had pull on our shirt. And its not a massive coincidence that Gerrards physical decline over the past 5 years has seen us stop contending for trophies. Obviously there have been several other mitigating factors, but ive lost count of how many times in different competitions Gerrard pulled our arse out of the fire. And from 2001 to 2008 he was utterly astonishing as often as he was 'normal'.
A few years ago when it was looking like his career was over I was so gutted and although he isnt the old Gerrard im glad hes still here, still going and still better than most midfielders in England.
Get this. By the time he ends his career, he will probably have scored more goals for us than Kenny Dalglish and Robbie Fowler. He will be our most capped player ever. Our top European goalscorer and appearance holder. The player with the most world cup appearances. Longest serving captain, and a host of other records.
And every single time I see him play in a Liverpool shirt it makes me smile.

Gerrard, he has done it more consistently at the top level, Suarez batters Norwich twice a season but out record against the top 4 sides during Suarez time here is not good.

Suarez has more skill and technical ability but hes far less reliable than a prime Gerrard

I think comparing the two is stupid.

First of all, they're 2 different players, doing 2 completely different jobs. Secondly, Suarez has only been here a couple of years, whereas Gerrard has been with the club for the extent of his professional career. It's pretty obvious that Gerrard will have given the club a lot more at this stage.

You make him sound like a flat track bully, when he:
- saved a point against Chelsea away last season with a late equalizer.
- saved a point against Chelsea at home last season (97th minute too).
- scored a perfectly good goal against Everton at the death that was wrongly chalked off.
- scored a crucial goal to restore the lead at home against City that should've won us the game but for Skrtel's blunder.
- earned the penalty which Gerrard converted for the winner at home against Spurs.
- almost single-handedly dragged us past Zenit in the Europa League game at home.

Okay, some of these aren't top 4 sides, but still - that's an impressive list in just one season alone, even if those heroics didn't always result in victories. I voted for Gerrard as well, but he's played 540 more games than Suarez has in a red shirt. Even on some of his superman days, Gerrard couldn't will us to win all by himself, much less against top four opponents.
