Spurs v Liverpool match thread

He is tenacious, he fights for every ball. But he is just a slightly above average striker really. He found his level with Spurs imo.

Hes a trier alright, but this media campaign to make him the next Shearer is laughable. Shearer was a monster, he scored all sorts of goals, he had strength intelligence, timing and was a cold blooded finisher. Kane looks like the sort of player who went through a purple patch last year but isnt really that good, I cant see any attribute that would make somebody want to pay big money for him, what are his strengths? He looks like Ricky Lambert only younger.

Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool FT: Shots(OT) 13(4) - 12(3), Possession 49% - 51%.

Liverpool made 50 more sprints than Spurs (614 v 564) & were the 1st team to run further in a PL game than Spurs this season. Gegenpress

Immediate change. Great to see.

Indeed. But for some reason all last week it was poor the dantes, dantes doesn't know this, or that, or blah blah blah.

I liked that he made a point of going to Sinclair and that he went onto the pitch to give Sakho a few pointers after the game. Good communication goes a long way. He's a nice guy but there's also a quiet authority about him too, not many people will fuck with him and get away with it.

Very encouraging. Playing our players in their natural positions and suddenly we look better.
Ming, Sakho, Can were excellent. Origi did very well and could've had a goal.

Skrtel looked like our weakest link. He'll be replaced if he doesnt step up.

All in all, very good. Early doors but I fucking love Klopp already.

Refreshing to see a new team playing in red. 11 players who were prepared hurt themselves in the name of the badge. Lots of running, putting in brave tackles and blocks. Lallana had a new energy about him - I think we can at least expect to enjoy watching our team again this season and just see how it all starts to bed in to the players.

I think Klopp will give a lot of the younger players starring roles in the EL e.g. Teixeira, Ibe, Origi etc.

In the game itself - Can had clearly had a rocket up his arse from Klopp and had clear tactics, i think he looked excellent at times but sloppy at others. Not as many pointless backpasses to Mignolet after a spell of 5 mins of slow possession which was refreshing but still some nervy passing when in our own third.

I thought it was a fascinating performance. More effort, more fight, more focus. Origi looked a long, long way off the class that's needed, in my opinion, but I was pretty pleased with the overall standard, given the injuries.

I'm not so sure its that quiet if you piss him off.

Origi did well. He's 20 years old aswell. Will need time but there is certainly talent there.
Interesting to hear Klopp say he wanted Origi to Dortmund but the fee was to high.

But that just means either Dortmand couldn't afford him at £10m (or whatever it was) or he didn't think Divock was worth £10m

Also remember a few weeks ago when Sturridge was nearly fit and we were all like 'Big fucking deal' and loads of superfans were all like 'Uuuh what kind of fan are you, hes boss'

Yeah.

Didn't think Can was excellent at all mate.

I thought Mingolet did well to make some important saves. Moreno had an odd game. He took chances on the ball time and time again. He got away it thanks to a few clumsy fouls from Lamella. Clyne was very good in parts. I like seeing him carry the ball out as he's got bags of pace. He chooses to go back the odd time but I can deal with that.

As was pointed out in the commentary, we really wasted corners by hitting outswinging crosses that either Sakho or Skittles headed up in the air without anyone else looking like following up. It'll be one great sign of Klopp's coaching when we start looking dangerous at corners.
