Miscellaneous - liverpool thread

Things Ruben Peeters has introduced per TheAthletic FC:

• Individual timetables for players.
• Longer training days
• Less intense training sessions
• Wellness check in the mornings
• Yoga & Hydrotherapy encouraged
• More time spent in the gym
• Ice baths.

Liverpool have played 36 games this season, one more than at this stage last season.

We have one minor injury despite playing every 3 days. Impressive.

----

Not worth a thread, but it was highlighted as one of Slot and his teams strengths and so far we have a full squad.

I'd also be really interested in the running/output data.
I think it was mentioned before but wonder if the more controlled play and slight change in tactics means less intense work and less injuries?

Data would clear it up I suppose

I think it does because it worth more discussion about the backroom staff changes

@King Binny I think posted a tweet saying Klopp's fitness coach was the reason why some backroom staff left. His training technique was gruelling, and added to injuries. Also, he was involved in the recruitment process.
A set piece coach wouldn't go a miss

Interesting to see where we were at last year at this time in terms of injuries and absences. I mean, most of the list below would not be the result of an over zealous fitness coach, but certainly, we're in a much better place. I'll maintain that Slot is a lot luckier than Klopp, which is no bad thing.

This Klopp sounds a dick, glad he fcked off after 9yrs. What’s he ever done for us…
WTF?!?! andreas kornmayer fitness technique was gruelling.... Klopp stood by his fitness coach despite the criticism but I think some could level the accusation Kornmayer's technique increased the likelihood of injuries and fatigue.

There was some guy who wrote a book about training methods or something and warned us that Klopp's methods will lead to many injuries.
Ah...found it while I was writing. Looks like he was right in the end.

Klopp + Kornmayer vs Edwards + Jacobsen

Special report: Inside Liverpool’s medical department

Correlation does not, necessarily, mean causation ... but there was talk before Slot arrived that he had a good record around squad fitness, so the evidence is beginning to pile up

Yeah so far only minor injuries. The only major one, I think, was Jota's rib injury which had nothing to do with fitness.

You also mentioned transfers and set pieces.
Point is, he may have got some wrong but got lot right in balance. I think lot of the criticism related to transfers and set pieces is not balanced. He was part of a transfer committee that got a lot right. Was he not one to intro thrown in coach.

Our throw ins wind me up so much. Slow slow fucking slow.

Slot’s recent comments on the subject:

"I hope there is more to it than luck because we try to work in a certain way," Slot says of the lack of absentees at present. "Yeah, it is a bit difficult to tell you how we work and I cannot compare to how it was beforehand.

"I can only say the staff I have been working with at Feyenoord and now, there is a very good cooperation there and now here. And that has led to the fact that at Feyenoord and now here, we haven't had many injuries.

"We do have clear ideas about how we work and it's about which training session you do and when you do it. And also when you do it if you play two or three games in a week. But we would have to sit down for a few hours to explain all the things we do. Fortunately for me they (the staff) have a lot of knowledge of what to do and when to do it and then they just tell me every single day."

No one here thought the appointment of Kornmayer was wrong. However, what is a fact is Kornmayer was a contravertial figure who had critics worth their salt. I merely pointed out the difference citing vaguely King Binny's post.
I do think Slot could do better with Set Pieces by hiring a ciach and we did quite well throw ins when we had a throwin specialist coach.

Maybe we should hire specialist onside and finishing coaches for Nunez…

How does that math work?

Season started almost 6 months ago.

That’s over 150 days which is close to once every 5 days vs once every 3 days?

It's not taking into account International breaks and the games played then by the players
You can probably add another four to six games to the mix
