Genuinely, though?

Some numpty at Sky bashes a few stats into a spreadsheet and that's some kind of proof of anything??

That's not how football works. There's so much wrong with it it's untrue.

He's scored 8 game winning goals (or 7 game winners and 3 game tiers etc) ... and I can remember plenty of 'em (be it West Ham, Soton etc). That's 24 points.

I honestly don't know where to start with that. It's practically autistic to try to reduce football to a simple equation like that.

Just ridiculous tbh.

No mate, you would be creaming in your pants if we had signed those players instead spurs have and now its all about finding the negatives.

NO ONE is saying those players aren't quality - that's why it's dreambeliever mk ii ... you're not even reading what people are discussing, though credit where it's due, you're not mentioning manure every bloody post.

Bar Soldado, they don't have a proven goalscorer ... Lamela had a great year - and I think he'll be good. Willian? Dembele? Gylfi? Lennon?

If Soldado pulls a Morientes on them, they'll struggle to replace the 8 games Bale won by himself ... That's definitely their Achilles heal.

I have read what you said disagree with it totally, those lot are quality and will get goals and win games even bale is not there

Goldfish memory

You obviously haven't ... none of those players, bar Lamela (if they sign him), is capable of doing what Bale did (and Gerrard a decade ago). It's a special type of player ...

Soldado was a great goalscorer in Spain - I don't know how that will translate into England. Besides him, Defoe only scores when he's on his yearly purple patch, and Adebayor has struggled to maintain focus for long stretches since his Arsenal days.

The other players ... Chadil is going to score how many? Dembele score goals? Gylfi did what last year? Lennon? Willian? Come on ...

I don't see any problem saying these players are of a good to high quality player, but to assume they can a) gel quickly and b) manage to replace what Bale was to them without any doubt is foolish. You don't built any sports team on paper.

As I said, dreambeliever mk II ... though i can call you dreamweaver if you prefer.

Think about the alternative.

If they had Willian, Soldado, Lamela, Capoue, Paulinho etc instead of Bale do they not beat the likes of West Ham ?

The likelihood is they win by more

I dunno - I haven't seen the team play bar one game so far, and minus Willian and possibly Lamela (Capoue, Paulinho and Willian aren't going to be what will worry teams though goals wise!).

Also, their team was geared towards Bale last year ... SOrt of like Ronaldo at Madrid. How are they going to adapt to not looking for one player only? who's are they going to look to carry them late in games when they need a goal to draw/win? It's more complicated than this.

Footy isn't played on FM or paper, and that's why I'm not that worried yet ... The making is there of a very good team. The players are excellent ... but still, need to watch them.

SSN and BBC both reporting bale close to a madrid move....gonna take a lot to replace him.

Will be interesting to see how their new signings bed in.

I like how people are talking about 3-4 30M signings like it's nothing when we'd all LOVE just to make one.

But like ours would be good and there's won't... right... that's how it works.

Where is anyone saying it's nothing?

There's a big difference in a player coming into our system (which will stay the same, regardless if Suarez is in or out) vs Spurs (where it was based on Bale almost entirely last year). It's an adjustment period for Spurs - and that may last a few games or a few months, no one knows. All some of us are saying is that it will take time to get the players on the same page in a 'different' (i.e. no focal point like last year) system, and that it will be heavily reliant on Soldado for goals. I don't think there's anything wrong with that ...

Where is anyone saying <LIKE> it's nothing?

t's ok buying up 3 or 4 '30 mil' bracket players, are they going to get them more than that 30 pts?.
don't think there's anything wrong with that ...

There isn't anything wrong with that but inbetween the few salient discussion points the debate that is being conducted across a number of threads now is littered with "Fuck Spurs" along with the usual suspects getting irate and aggressive and fairly rose-tinted viewpoints on how things could develop.

I still don't see where I said that their signings wouldn't be good but ours would be in the 30 million bracket. In fact, scrolling back, I said numerous times they're signing good to high quality players ... There's no problem with saying 'fuck spurs,' or 'fuck arsenal' etc ... They're our rivals. We'll save kumbaya for conference opponents in the FA Cup.

I think my comment was fairly self-explanatory so we'll leave it at that.

So was mine, and I thought I was debating the subject without showing Spurs and their work much disrespect (though I did throw a 'Fuck Spurs' in there because well, I felt like it).

they wont win the league but i think we can forget about any chance of top four, i think arsenal will make some good signings and finish 5th, we'll end up 6th

I didn't make it with you in mind so don't feel the need to defend yourself.

You cant add what they have added and not be better. I still think they are a CB short of a challenge, but their midfield options are ridiculous.

our best bet now is that arsenal and united fall behind because they havnt really improved, but i feel like arsenal probably will buy big, and united wont fall behind too much realistically, its a bit shit really cause we really are improving, just not as much as the teams ahead of us
