Smack in the face or a kick in the nuts?

After we scored early against Chelsea we did. After 30 mins against Juve we did. I love every minute but we certainly played a negative style to win the CL that year in the knockout stages.

We did against Chelsea but that was a consequence of scoring early, I dont remember the Juve game that way although I do admit my memory of it is hazy other than the goals

My point was simply that Utd over both legs never attempted to take the game to Madrid until they needed 2 goals in the last 20 minutes, their strategy clear from the start of the first leg, they just set out to nullify Madrid and hope to grab something on the counter or from a set piece

There are some proper bellends out there. Reading the views of Dermot Gallagher and Henry Winter, and both shifting the blame to Arbeloa.

Right....

I dont agree.
We got outplayed by Chelsea, but we werent playing defensively they were just better.
Against the three teams we scored 9 goals.

Had it been Pepe or someone else flying in like that, intent or no intent, there would've been three experts in the ITV studio agreeing that it was a blatant red.

I think it's a tough call myself, yellow or a light red, but the fact of the matter is, it's no biggie really in terms of right or wrong, and it's only because it happened to Ferguson's team at his own ground it's getting so much attention.

PS I so hope Mourinho gets the United job, no other I'd rather want us to beat for the title.

Right....

Usual bullshit, Arbeloa did absolutely nothing wrong, he didnt even make a meal of it or appeal for the ref to card him. This is the usual English media whitewash of history

Does anyone else think that Mourihno's reverential comments about the game and Man u (best team lost, wont run down the touchline, bla bla bla ) could indicate where he wants to end up .Seemed to be very uncharacteristic to me - a real departure from his usual chutzpah

And boooom!
They appoint Webb for the FA cup game on sunday.
Feel better now Fergie?

Exactly - shoe on the other foot and the Mancs and their hanger-ons would be baying for red there.

Privately, I'm pretty sure Ferguson is blowing a gasket and kicking Nani for costing them the tie. If prolonged discussions over Nani's new contract hadn't pissed him off enough, this probably would be the push that Ferguson needed to get Nani out the door.

Hmm..now that's a thinker !

It was definitely at least a yellow, and a slightly harsh red, but I've seen way lesser reds given. United need to stop blaming that decision for losing the tie. If they hadn't fallen apart after it, they could have still qualified. Plenty of teams have done a lot better than they did with 10 men.

It says in the papers today that Ginsoak was 'too emotional' to talk to anyone last night. Only he conjures up thoughts of a weeping tramp lying in a heap amongst the whisky bottles. No one ever mentions his gleeful comment in 2007 about sending a bottle of wine to Ancelotti so that they could toast our defeat.

I read that he was 'distraught'. I thought that emotion was usually saved for witnessing horrific accidents or losing a loved one.

Calling any Twitter users on this site:

Please can you investigate strong rumours that last night's ref appears to be a big fan of Spanish football and follows Real and Ronaldo.

{Redcafe were going into meltdown about it last night - which I thought was the perfect end to a wonderful night of football}

I suggested this last night...

Just have a look at who the ref follows on Twitter...

Lol.

It's been very difficult today working with two manc supporters. It's fun to rile them up, "You guys were so unlucky, that red card was so harsh and you would have won otherwise" blah blah blah.

Rooney is going to be sold this summer ... World class Rooney.

I can't see it as I don't have a Twitter account (hence my post asking Twits to look)

It was funny watching him bounce up and down in front of the 4th official like a toddler who's just had their sweets taken away.

Were people seriously having a go about us laughing at them btw? There's a difference between that and the Bitters taking every opportunity they can to talk about us. They're our rivals and they just got dumped out the CL, making them another year away from closing in on our record. Of course we can be happy about that.

I can't copy and paste the page, but apart from a load of UEFA sites and Turkish club sides, he follows the official Real and Barca accounts as well as Cuntnaldo and Messi's accounts.

He doesn't follow any other "foreign" club sides.

Hilarious.

EDIT:
He also sent Twatface Terry off at the Nou Camp last year.

That was a red though, without a doubt.

Yes, it's always comical when he gets out of his seat these days because he's obviously anxious about falling down the stairs, so he tries to run, then looks down at the step, then runs, then looks down at the next step, then runs...etc etc.

Spot on Gerry.

They probably would have held out with ten behind the ball if Modric didn't score such a fucking awesome goal.

HAHAHAHAHA

2007: "Carlo gave me a magnificent bottle of wine," Ferguson added. "But I immediately told him I would only drink his wine once I see him lifting the Champions Cup."

Hey, Fergie: Glug Glug.

Ronaldo and Maureen to join utd next season, Fergie to retire with ill health (alcohol related). You heard it here first.

Oh and Bale was at OT last night. Off to Madrid then not like my manc mate says he is off to the mancs for £30 million and Nani

Do your carers know you slip away and post on here Larry?
The idea is to win the league as many times as you can, not just more than United, that's just worrying about fucking history.
people that worry about , and live in the past will only hold us back, Shankly looked to the future and certainly did not live in the past.
Worrying about a team nearly thirty points clear of us at the top is about as much use as an ashtray on a fucking motorbike.
Shankly just thought about Liverpool, he did not give a fuck about anyone else, he did not obsess about United or any other team, in fact I am pretty sure he had a good relationship with United.
It's quite simple really , look after yourself , strive to be the best is correct, you have that bit right, but let others worry about themselves.

I understand where you are coming from....

But for this group of players who have realistically only 2 players in the squad who really understand how it is to be Liverpool FC of old, I think they need a motivation.

The motivation should be to put LFC back to the top, you need a reason to get there.... Its what Fergie did with Utd back all those years ago.... Maybe we need a bit of that in return? That was just my point. Agreed its not all about those lot and it is more about doing it for ourselves, but maybe a little retribution is also a good motivational tool?

Well Fergie's motivation was to "knock Liverpool off their perch", so fair point. I think you're both right to a degree and I don't think many of us "obsess" about United, laughing at other teams when they get beat is part of the beauty of the game, it's rivalry. I don't actively go out of my way to look up United, or Everton or anyone else for that matter. But if they get beat or have a bit of ill luck, of course I'm gonna smile, it's the flip side of being on the end of it yourself.
