Smack in the face or a kick in the nuts?

Fantastic. And even better hearing the Norwegian reporter at OT saying Fergie went off his nut after the game. Screaming, shouting, swearing and saying Utd will complain to UEFA.

Fucking. Boss. Night.

Btw, speaking as an American who follows four major sports (not to mention college sports), I have NEVER seen a coach whine and complain as much as Alex Ferguson.

I've never ever ever ever read an entire match thread before. Until now. And it wasn't even one of ours. And I loved every minute of it.

Red card? I think a yellow would've been more appropriate. But I can see why he gave a red. It was dangerous play, regardless of intent.

Handball? If Joe Allen's incident earlier this season was deemed to be a handball, (can't remember who it was against) then this is a handball all day fucking long.

United's penalty shout (1 of about 372)? The one against Vidic, probably should've been given.

Disallowed goal? I didn't see anything wrong with it.

So shut the fuck up, United fans.

Thats the one aspect of the game that disappointed me was not getting to witness a Mourinho hissy fit, hes the only one who can give Ferguson a run for his money in the big petulant baby stakes

Doug Collins has a pretty whiny voice though. At least when he was doing commentary, I thought he had a whiny voice. I wouldn't want to be near him if he got pissed off and went off yelling at a higher speed. Would sound like a Formula 1 race car zipping around.

But yeah, he's not a patch on Ferguson's whining accomplishments.

I dont give a fuck what any commentator says, yes the sending off was controversial but over 180 minutes Utd only tried to play for the last 20 minutes at home, so fuck them they deserved to lose. Playing for time with 50 minutes gone at home like a bunch of cowards, they got what they deserved, 11 men behind the ball for all of the first leg and most of the first half, booting it long for Wellbeck to chase, that Pulis level tactics, delighted, I hate when teams get rewarded for that sort of play

So you hated our run in 05 then ya?

Mourinho's a complete belljob.

I can't wait for Dreamy to come on and start a thread about how amazing he is.

Amazing I haven't started a thread about your amazing traits if thats the criteria for such a thread to be created.

This discussion about intent is interesting. Take Shelvey's challenge against Evans for instance, at the time I said that it was a red card cause he caught Evans. But after hearing all this talk about intent, I see it differently. Shelvey intended to get the ball, he didn't know that Evans was gonna get there ahead of him.
So it shouldn't have been red then.

You can apply that to pretty much any dangerous play. How about when that Arsenal striker broke his foot, that defender didn't know that he had his foot there, he was going for the ball. Shouldn't have been red.

When Suarez got a penalty against Swansea recently, the defender went for the ball, he missed it and caught Suarez. Shouldn't have been a penalty. Wasn't his intent to catch Suarez.

Maybe I'm interpreting this wrong.

Intent doesn't matter

Well Im probably biased but I dont remember is us parking the bus at home against anybody, we beat Leverkusen 3-1, Juve 2-1 and then hanging on desperately against Chelsea in the semi

Utd by comparison played the entire tie sitting deep and looking to snatch something, it nearly worked but much like when Inter or Chelsea did it to Barca but personally I dont enjoy it

We all hate the Mancs, but you can't honestly believe that. Unless you're mental. Perhaps you're mental.
Rules are rules, studs up = red card.
It's a dangerous tackle regardless of the intent or if he didn't see him there, he is meant to be aware of his surroundings. He isn't the only player on the ground.
Great decision by the ref and I'm glad he had the balls to show it at old toilet. Had it been Howard Webb, Arbeloa would've been booked

Indeed, the fact that the decision made the game more enjoyable and lopsided is just a bonus. Man U deserved to go out because they are cunts and the rest is moot IMHO. Hopw many decisions have gone their way throughout the years?

Personally I think UEFA should throw the book at Fergie for his touchline shenanigans afterwards as well, and then slap a hefty fine on Phelan for his comments about the ref in the post match.

I fucking hate Mancs and the more they suffer the more I like it.

I didn't see the game but i read that Man U were lucky that Real had a goal dissallowed in the first half anyway, not only that but the Modric goal was a proper rip-snorter.

And of course Man U had de-gayer as MotM in the first leg....Overall the best team won.... fuck United.

So, 20 odd challenges and 2 european cups for Fergie.
He's obviously one of the great managers, so it's staggering (and incredibly enjoyable) to think how little he's been able to win on the continent.

*smells of conspiracy that the FA and the refs are all bent* wink....

It does appear odd that he hasnt won it more often considering Guardiola and Mourinho have won 2 each in a much shorter time span and its likely both of them will get at least one more before they pack it in. No doubt it would infuriate him having Mourinho at Man City with 3 European titles to his 2, he has been the boss of English football for a long time, not sure how he would handle that

After we scored early against Chelsea we did. After 30 mins against Juve we did. I love every minute but we certainly played a negative style to win the CL that year in the knockout stages.

Not only the boss of English football, with all the favouritism and bias from the press and refs alike but he has also had the cash necessary to properly Lord it.

He has won it twice to be fair to him but you could easily argue that they certainly didn't deserve to beat either Bayern nor to a lesser extent Chelsea, considering there dominance bordering on hegemony it's not exactly a proud record. Master motivator and shrewd operator though he undoubtedly is, his record in Europe over 20 odd years is ordinary and there have been a number of occasions when he has been shown up tactically.
