Smack in the face or a kick in the nuts?

From Henry Winter's article today:

"Sir Alex Ferguson launched himself from his seat in the dug-out like a claymore flying through the air". (lol)

No wonder the Scots got defeated by the 'English' if that doddering old drunk nearly falling down the steps was like a claymore attack.

He actually typed "clay pigeon" but auto spellcheck corrected it.

Ha ha - Out of all the funny stuff I saw last night that was probably my favourite. Watching Ginsoak waddle down to the touchline, arms above his head, waving in fury and indignation. The bacon faced loon was a delight to behold.

Yeah its odd, Ive grown up seeing him as manager of Utd, cant remember any manager before him. But when you saw him trying to clamber down the steps last night and having to take them one at time you realise how old he is now.

Reminded me of the shot of him during the final against Barca when they were getting played off the park and you could see both his hands visibly shaking as he sat on the bench, I thought he wouldnt hang about much longer after seeing that but he has kept on going. He really must be getting towards the end now he has aged alot more in the last 3 years than the previous 10

Him jabbing his finger at the final whistle had me in near hysterics. Hilarious stuff.

Hahaha. Yeah I read that, the fawning bellend. I buzzed off this bit too :

"Good luck to Michel Platini, Uefa’s president, when he next bumps into Ferguson. The great knight of English football usually talks respectfully about Uefa but the whole of Nyon may receive the hairdryer treatment when Ferguson decides."

Oh and this bit too:

"And then this. And then this act of folly by Cakir. It was only one decision, lacking the succession of mistakes that Tom Henning Ovrebo made against Chelsea in 2009, but it proved equally damaging. A good game was ruined by a bad refereeing decision. A great occasion was spoiled for the home fans and a huge global television audience by the man from the banks of the Bosphorus.
Good luck to Turkish Airlines renewing that United contract."
Yeh sorry Turkish Airlines we don't want your money because some bloke from your country had a hand in knocking us out the CL.

I can't wait for the day that rags like the Torygraph can't sustain enough circulation to stay open.

That's just pathetic, even for a sports journalist.

If you bother to click on the comments section on the BBC the highest ranked comments are all of normal people who see the hypocrisy of it all.

For example:

Great way to show your maturity Fergie - if it happened to any other team's player, you'd have said the ref made the right decision according to the rules. Show some grace in defeat...

I've probably missed this debate and I can't be bothered looking for it, but I thought it was the right decision according to the rules. Going in with a foot that high surely endangers a player's safety.

Either right or wrong that decision's outcome was very pleasing. That's the important thing.

He could have killed him!

Exactly, he seems to forget that he was calling for a massive ban for someone kicking a football at another player as it 'could have killed him', but when his player nearly kicks Arbeloa's chops off, that's obviously ok.

Just for the record I never thought it was a red - A yellow at best. Anyway as jimmy said who cares.

The ref and his assistant followed the rule book.
Dangerous tackle =Red card.
Tough tittay Ginsoak.

The Manc reaction to the red card is preposterous. If Arbeloa had done a similar foul on Nani, Nani wouldnt have got up for like 30 minutes and Ferguson would have been the head of a lynch mob to ban Arbeloa from the game.

Instead of getting riles up and acting like a spoilt brat, Ferguson should have calmed down and told his team to keep their cool. They followed his lead and collapsed.

Ginsoak should appreciate his own health and safety standards - it's a dangerous world out there:

The United manager accused Ashley Williams, the Wales team's captain, of deliberately kicking the ball at the striker's head from dangerously close range, suggesting the Dutchman's neck could easily have been broken.

Dermot Gallacher is more incomprehensible than usual today. He just said on BBC news that Peter Crouch's over head kick last Saturday that caught Matt Taylor 'was a worse tackle'. Except it clearly wasn't even a tackle, was it, you eviscerated Collina! Dangerous play, maybe, but in that case you'd have to ban overhead kicks full stop.

See, I don't really get this. The rules say endangering a fellow player's safety is worthy of a red card. Is it that you think the rules are wrong? Cos seems to me they were applied properly last night.
Just saying it like I saw it. I suppose you could argue a case for a red - Roy Keane certainly thought so!

I think we all know that if someone tried that tackle in a match between us and the mancs or us against Everton it would either be a red or a sign that the match is going to be very brutal. Some refs let it go, others seize on it with a red. All one can hope for is for them to show consistency on whichever terms they choose. But the idea it was a shock to see a red given, well, that's just plain disingenuous.

Ha! From my perspective it was all hilarious watching Roy Keane tear into a clearly shitting himself Gareth Southgate. He turned him into what Joe Pesci would call 'a stuttering prick' - I bet the Utd fans just love Keane right now 😀

I read all that like dry facts, more than an opinion on the matter.

Amazing what a change of fonts can do.

Henry Winter was the ghost-writer for the bipgraphies of Dalglish, Barnes and Gerrard. Perhaps he's just in love with the beautiful game and wants English teams to do well regardless of who they are.
