Played very well today in difficult circumstances.

If it does prove to be his last game for us he leaves us on a high note and possibly wondering whether it's the right decision.

One of his best games for us imo.

No lapses all focus and mostly good delivery.

I can see us keeping him until January if there's any serious damage to Glenjo at least

I noticed there was not even a single mention of Ming in the match thread....signs of him settling in?

Id have given it to Johnson til he got injured but Skrtel was as good as anybody out there today

I know! I've never seen him play like that before, no diving in and getting left for dead by their best player, who'd have thought it?

Was the begrudged acknowledgement and inability to exaggerate his deficiencies really necessary?

I've been uncertain of him throughout his career with us, but full credit to him today. He played amazingly well. Especially in the second half when we invited pressure.
Good luck in your career wherever you go Martin. If it's your final game, well fucking done. Did yourself proud.

Not reading into things, are you Mark?

Well, yes, if it's deserved after a game.

IF this is your last game, you've shown what professionalism and dying for the badge is all about ... Look at how he celebrated with Studge compared to Rooney against Swansea ... Look at how well he played ... I think he's shown what he's capable of ... I'd be tempted to loan Illori out and keep him.

People have very short memories. He was excellent the season before last, one of the best in the league and linked to City for £20Mish.

It was a concern that it was his first game back and against the Champions, but it shouldn't be that surprising that he delivered an excellent performance. He's done it many times before, and I hope that's not the last we see of him in a red shirt.

There was one spot where Welbeck(?) managed to get past him too easily and Glenjo saved the day, but was otherwise solid.

I don't know if he was amazing, but he was exponentially better than our expectations of him in this figure

Hopefully it bumps up the price. If he can keep van persie relatively quiet, he can keep anyone quiet.

Shut up Jules.

What the feck is wrong with you?? Gave him credit in the match thread and was quick to acknowledge him in here and yet here you are moaning, talking about Agger?

Obsessed much?

He was excellent in defence ... however I think this match also highlighted why he is no longer Rodgers' first choice. Whenever he was in possession and getting closed down he was rarely capable of finding a team mate and instead put his foot through it, invariable meaning United were now able to regain possession and start building again.
So, defensively a 9/10 however from a footballing perspective rather less than that. Thank you for your service Martin (if you are on your way to Napoli, otherwise happy to see you on our bench) and good luck. Hereon I'm looking forward to better footballing CBs in Sakho and IIlori and if, defensively, they are on his level (and it would seem they are) then we will have improved the team.

Obsessed much, fucking hell. Spurs are playing now, so I'm sure you have a thread to start *again*
