Are you missing the point of all this? Why did it become a England Vs Irish Debate? Probably cause many saw it as an opportunity to fuel one.
Fifa are changing the rules 3/4 way through the qualifying process to aid the so called bigger countries. According to you "If you aint good enough you aint good enough, as simple as that". If France/Germany/Portugal aren't good enough to qualify out of their groups, then tough luck. Rules shouldnt be drawn up now so they don't face each other in a qualifier.

That is my point. None of this poor Ireland crap that some are ye are trying to label me with. If we come second we'll be in the play off and play whoever we get drawn against, it's going to be a one off game and anything can happen. This still doesnt mean Fifa aren't cunt. Ha.
 
To be fair it's not just the Irish that "LOVE seeing England get fucked up", it's generally anyone who's not English.

Sepp Blatter is a honorary member of the Real Madrid board. A few weeks ago there was an article in many newspapers that Perez was worried about Ronaldo missing the world cup, as it might diminish his commercial appeal. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks there is a connection.

The question is not whether it favors Ireland or England. Rules regarding playoffs should have been set before the qualifying games started. You cannot change the rules midway.

There is some difference tho; we were let in because we won it...it was inconceivable that a team could win the damn thing but not even qualify for it in the next year.

In this case, FIFA are trying to change the rules because there's a risk the Irish will qualiy at the expense of a bg team.

For your example to be accurate, we'd have had to have gone in at the expense of Everton; that didn't happen.

(Though it would have if it had happened again)

If it was known before the group stages that the play-off draw would be seeded then is fine, everyone knows where they stand. Like someone said in this thread (Frogfish, I think) the big teams have already had their advantage by being seeded for the groups. That really should have been enough for teams like Germany, France and Portugal to get the job done in the first place.

I don't mind the English lads have a laugh or a joke about this. It's all banter.
I am sure some 'injustice' will befall England at the upcoming WC which I can take immense pleasure from. Can't wait!!

You are not very observant at all it seems. We know we are not in the higher echelons of International football. We have never said anything to the contrary. Have we? Keni, we were allowed defend our title as reigning champions and the rule to allow us play was made at the start of the qualifying. Everton were still allowed enter aswel. They made us start at the first round also which was fair and they set a precedence that all cup holders will be allowed defend their trophy.

To expect FIFA to be anything other than cunts is naiive, thats not to say it is unfair however, IMO the fact remains that the better teams make for a better WC.

As it happens I am of Irish stock myself and would rather enjoy seeing the republic qualify and this thread was rightly hijacked by Mors and his extreme banter, originally it was not an Ireland vs England nonsense.

I think it was rightly Hijacked for the fully justified chip.

I wouldn't worry to much as i reckon they will qualify anyway.
