Paddys post is IMO by far the best post in the thread because it actually expressed how he feels after the wind up mors was pulling, the reason i posted what i did was to point out that Paddys post is a natural response to people being utter cunts and as an England fans we get fucking plenty of shit which clearly we are expected to eat silently.

Secondly, Molby - Dear dear God. What on Earth would I have any regrets in starting the thread for? How do "deserve your place at the WC" then? By being a big Nation? By complying with FIFA's ever changing rules? You really don't know what your point is do you?

I'm not quite sure why this has become an 'Ireland Vs England' thread either. Possibly because people as unintelligent as yourself can't argue the initial theme of the thread well enough.

It's a total different scenario though. We were reigning champions and defending our trophy. Decision was made at start of qualifying and no rule was ammened during the qualifying and we didn't come in at the expense of another team as Everton were still allowed enter the qualifying stages.

In Europe too however many were turned against us by wars (cold or actual) hooliganism and other 'isms but generally it's always neighbouring countries that hate each other because they are in direct competition & comparison. The Dutch & Belgians hate each other most, Spanish & Portuguese, Germans & Austrians, and everyone hates the French.

Opinions on England tends to be highly polarized. Many of the supporters tend to be the worst glory hunters there are though and usually have very little overall football knowledge. These days there are far more haters than before because of English fans' behavior and overall cuntishness(sp?) of the England team. I used to love watching England but since the -98 world cup I've very quickly started to dislike them. If the team contains the likes of Rooney, Lampard, Cole, Terry, Ferdinand. Beckham etc. it's easy to see why a foreigner would not quite enjoy watching them anymore.

Anyway this thread has nothing to do with hating England or hating Ireland. It's an example of yet another thing that goes in favor of the big countries/clubs and it's mostly motivated by money. Football is becoming so boring and predictable nowadays because of this kind of shit.

Finland is a 3rd seed team when drawing the qualifying groups. We usually get shafted when drawing the groups(but that's just bad luck, shit happens). We got shafted again by drawing Germany and Russia. Now had we managed to fight our way to second in our group shouldn't we be entitled to be at least treated on par with other second placed teams? No we should just get ready for yet another uphill battle against France, Holland or fucking Brazil.

Yes. Actually I think they should change the whole qualifying procedure for the next World Cup.
You only need 3 gourps.
Group one should contain France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Holland and England in a series of round robin matches, with the top 7 to qualify.
Group two should contain the next top 6 based on the World rankings(of television audiences, not those silly football ones), with the top 6 in that group to also qualify.
Group three contains every other European nation, with the top team to qualify.

Obviously the third group is only really there to provide a little variation, so the same team should not be allowed win in on more than one occasion.

I think this is the best way to guarantee the best teams in the world cup and also some really exciting money making matches in the qualifiers.

Dear God indeed Ryan the points I made were clear and I thought that being a pretty level headed kind of fella generally maybe just maybe you'd regrettted such a thread as it descended into a shitfest.

In general i'd assumed you were sporting enough to recognise that the better teams qualify, Its got fuck all to do with being a "big" country etc its to do with being good enough, for once England actually are good enough to qualify.

Blatter has been a blatant creepy fucking bastard for YEARS... it does amaze me that everybody has to suffer these wankers.

Strangely enough considering his anglophobia at least with Platini you can tell he does have some honour and is actually in it for the good of the game. Blatter is pretty shameful.
 
Personally, not particularly arsed who's at the World Cup, they're always a let down.

Ireland have been shafted tho. Blatter left a trap door and has used it. Not surprised at all that priorities these days are individuals and money rather than the global 'event' it used to be.

They're soon to announce the Olympic destination for the 2016 games and similar to Blatter and FIFA you can guarantee that despite the fact Rio should get the games the committee will award it to Chicago - it's all about big money - it's very sad.

The Republic of Ireland will not be seeded when the draw for the World Cup play-offs are made on Monday.

The latest Fifa rankings leave Ireland in 34th place, meaning France, Russia, Portugal and Greece will be seeded for the two-legged play-off matches.

The top four teams will face either Giovanni Trapattoni's Ireland, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Ukraine or Slovenia.

The draw will be made at 1300 BST in Zurich with the two legs to be played on 14 November and 18 November.

Trapattoni's team finished second in Group Eight to qualify for the play-offs and he believes they can beat any of the four seeded teams.

"This team can play against anyone if they have belief in our performance, our mentality and our plan," said the Italian.

"We can go into the play-offs feeling confident and with belief if we play as we did against Italy on Saturday.

"We must believe. We have built this team and we can do it."
