That's true. But the rules should be set out before the campaign, and not changed with two games because some of the so called bigger nations are struggling. The change to the rule is fine, it's just the timing of it that's off.

So what, USA, Greece, Serbia, Australia & Switzerland are all ahead of Portugal in Fifa Ranking so fuck Fifa Ranking.
Ireland are preformed exemplary in previous World Cups we have competed in and Fifa Ranking wont come into when the tournament kicks off.

It's not as if it's a case of poor old Ireland, it's more at the fact the Fifa are being cunts. Which they are. Many poster have picked up on that, others just want to use it as 'our team is better than your team' opportunity which wasn't what Ryan intended when creating the thread. I can't speak for Ryan, but i'm sure the thread was made in a dig at Fifa who are clearly moving the goalposts to aid the bigger teams. Yes Ireland are a team who could suffer from this 'change' in the rules and we have a right to feel agrieved by it if we want.

Regardless the difference between not including a team and making a team play a slightly harder opponent is quite large.

4. If I was Ireland I would try to find a way to prevent the play off seeding via the courts. Maybe even the threat would be enough to see FIFA back down rather than create a hell of a rumpus.

The point is that the rule was just brought in now. They had left it open but implied that it would be an open draw..and also what a load of bollocks, you (like the rest of us) would have went mental if we weren't allowed into the CL that year.

I think this is the very point that is being made. This "rule change" with two qualifying matches left is quite obviously at the behest of the stronger nations like Germany and France. In other words it wouldnt happen if Germany and France had qualified automatically

Why should they? they Know i'm right, most Irish people fucking LOVE seeing England get fucked up... they love the way we act about it all they fucking LOVE it it makes them feel superior.
