Any player tempted to sign for us ought to really grill the club as to who actually wants him. This poor sod was uprooted from PSG, a club he loved, and a city he loved, to come over here, learn a new language, start a new life, only to find he's not really wanted by the manager and probably never was. Sure, he's well paid, but the club has to stop messing around like this.

FFS do some research.

Ilori, 22, played the first half for Liverpool U21s in the mini-derby with Everton on Wednesday night, leaving as planned in the break with the Reds leading 3-1. It was Ilori's first game back after a successful summer at the European U21 Championship with Portugal where he was one of his nation's stand-out performers as they swept to the final before losing to Sweden on penalties.

I think you're being whoooooooshed. Well, at least by tom. 😉

Yet, when he was fit last season, he almost started every time, and often over the new, under-performing 20m signing as well. Sakho is the same guy who stormed out of the stadium at the derby game last season when he realized he hadn't been picked for the squad. Regardless how you regard that managerial decision, I think that does suggest something about how he reacts to selection setbacks. I wouldn't be surprised if the Roma and Leverkusen approaches to loan him have been encouraged by his camp and Rodgers hasn't taken kindly to yet another tantrum.

That's a fair point about him playing last season, although I'd say that was more to do with Lovren turning out to be so awful rather than any original desire to pick Sakho as first choice. As for him storming out after that game, well, he apologised quickly and vowed it would never happen again, so it's a bit presumptuous to say that's a sign of some kind of long term attitude problem.

And FSG should be having second thoughts about the whole transfer committee set-up, that bastard offspring of their preference for a DOF and Rodgers' refusal to work under one.

Yup. We were talking about this in work earlier. The whole thing has been a bit of a disaster really. We try to bring Rodgers in with a DOF, he says no, so we bring him in without one. What was the understanding here? Did we bring him in and force a committee on him? Anyway, he seems to have taken the reigns now, but the downside is he seems pretty intent to deem a couple of players as surplus. I don't think that does apply to all committee signings. He talked Moreno up well the other day after his performance, I think there are just inevitably a couple of players who's faces don't fit. More or less the same situation as when a manager takes over at a club.

As an aside, not sure if it's been mentioned, but Newcastle are apparently in for Sakho.

I'm not sure where people are getting the legs for this 'transfer from'. Logic tells us there is no chance of him leaving this season.

Skrtel, Lovren, Gomez & Toure are the other options. For the PL, EL, FAC and LC. Yeah like 4 CBs, one of whom has never played there for us and one who is in his last season here purely as a stand-by are going to be enough without Sakho. Give it a rest, he's going nowhere.

I disagree Froggy, I think he's gone.

It would be the defensive equivalent to last season's failure to secure a proper striker. I can't see any way it's happening but we'll just have to wait and see. If he goes and we get into defensive strife then I'll be all aboard the 'BR Out' cruise ship.

We wont sell for 8 mill.

How much will we sell for though? He came for £17m, he's had injury problems, he's not been amazing (he's not been bad either) and we clearly don't want him. At best I reckon it'd be something like £8m plus shitty add ons.

IF we did sell him, we'd have to be using kolo and illori considerably this season, which seems a bit of a gamble to me.
I'm all for sakho and lucas going if they must, but we've got to replace them if they go before the window. Losing a senior cb and dm with no cover is mental.

Fwiw I dont think we'll end up selling him. But I'd say about 13-15 mill £. He's the VC of France and ahead of Koscielny and Mangala in the national team.

I agree with the idea that Sakho hasn't been that great for us and I've always thought he looks error-prone on the ball (which is surely different from good passing ability) but I still think it's a travesty that the embarrassingly bad first season Lovren produced has resulted in him being chosen ahead of him.
